City powder coaters

sent my pff7 relicas in for a refirb.
£20 per wheel so thought what the hell, at that price may as well give them a tidy up.
Unfortunately they wasn't ready this morning so i had to wait for them to finish 2 of them off... no biggie i thought... just an opportunity to have a look round and watch the process :)
so what do you get for you £20 ?
chemical dip to strip paint
shot blasting
road rash ground out and tidied up best they can
powder coating
final laquer
and YES all for £20
heres some pictures :thumb:

That's cheap and looks like a good - I'd be interested to see how well they last as I'll be getting my Rota's cleaned up after I get another set of wheels:wonder:

I have heard some worrying comments about powder coating weaking wheels though:(

Wow that's good!
Bargain

Am looking for someone to powder coat my harness bar, worth a look at that price. Although a few bad reviews via google review...

my94wrx 05 April 2014 09:45 PM

i had my wheels powder coated there nearly 3 years ago and they are still mint, i used to use A1 wheels but there prices have gone through the roof and were charging best part of £100 per wheel.

sivo 05 April 2014 09:47 PM

This is the second time I've used them and never had a problem with them or the wheels.

They never answer the phone and like today they sometimes struggle to meet deadlines but the phone is constantly ringing and there must have been 500 rims on site.
Says it all really.

Took my other halfs wheels off her ibiza to these. Wouldn't ever take anything else there again. One went back as they chipped it during tyre fitting. The others the powder coat is thin and chipping. It is extremely fragile and also hazy. Compared to mine which went to detail uk look a totally different league compared to these. I'm sending them off again to be done with detail uk as on hate looking at them.

Would be interesting to see some pictures as a comparison given that they are twice the cost ?
Regards tyre fitting tho I sort that with someone I know, never had a chipped wheel in 20 years :thumb:

Tbf A1 were top dogs at it but it's the same with everything. Once you become established and make a good name prices go up

I'll post a pic later sivo and you'll see what I mean about the depth and clarity in it.

sivo 06 April 2014 11:30 AM

i don't doubt the quality or workmanship in a higher valued job guys, the whole point of the thread was to show people that for 20 quid a wheel you get a half decent finish that will save you a lot of time and effort in doing it yourself.
i did my old speedline turini's myself and i reckon i wasted 6 weeks of my life sanding them down and spraying them.

:brickwall:brickwall:brickwall

£80 a set is definitely good value :thumb:

CREWJ 06 April 2014 11:38 AM

Wow that's how much I paid for the same 7 years ago!

I may have to get my spare set re painted at this price!!

Could you keep us updated on how the paint reacts over time? This is the true test.
