I wonder if they will do a survey to show:

How many cases are dropped due to the victim not cooperating with police
How many cases are dropped due to the victim not attending court
How many initial reports are found to have been elaborated or falsely reported
How many arguments have actually been instigated by the person who phones the police
How many arguments have been a case of 'both as bad as each other'
How many times have costly safeguards been simply ignored or compromised by the victim
How many DV reports have falsely identified an individual as a perpetrator when they are totally innocent

I'm not trying to belittle the crimes and we do take DV cases seriously however i think there is a lot of hype made from these figures. TV shows don't help either, making comments such as:

"why do so many men get arrested yet not all of them get charged"
"a woman calls 999 every 30 seconds - so there should be a dedicated police officer sent straight away"
"he never got charged, so the police believed him over me"

I think it tends to blinker the public on what the police actually do when responding to DV incidents by not showing the more complex picture

just wondered what you think.....

Don't forget the:
- He dumped me, so I'll make him pay
- I've cheated on him, but I'll make it his fault
- He won't pay me any attention, so I'll get some from the police

There's also never any mention of the mental anguish that those falsely/maliciously accused suffer whilst being investigated, often over lengthy periods on bail.

And it's always the woman who's the victim in these stories. Men can be victims of other men or women.

Anyone found to be guilty of a false DV or rape allegation that goes to trial should face the same penalty as the accused would have faced. IMHO

I wonder if their are any stats detailing DV in relation to profession/job

If there where do you think the police would come, higher or lower than average (or average)

Whats amusing is 15 years ago there was no DV policy, no 1 to 27 (or whatever it is now), nada - you just got on with it. It was probably sorted better back then than it was now.

Whilst you are on it, you could sort out MFH too..
