Hill start assist help needed

Drove the car this morn and the hill start assist has locked on! Managed to free it but now is as loose as a wizards sleeve! (Broke) I think! Can I detach it and still able to use the car, or does it need replacing before I can drive the car safely again!

Cars a bugeye sport!

Cheers

Have a look at the linkage on the N/S inner wing under the bonnet - quite often seizes up.

I have disconnected the mech and wire! I think there is supposed to be a spring of some sort to release it when accelerator is engaged to disengage the hill start? Is this right as it just sticks on and I have to get out/ pop bonnet and tug the wire for breaks to release?

IIRC, it is released by the clutch cable as you lift the clutch pedal up to engage drive - not the accelerator cable.
