Anybody used Digitalrev?

Hi

I'm thinking about ordering a camera lens from them as they are £100 cheaper than Jessops.

Any feedback would be appreciated

Thanks

Yeah, I use them. No problems at all.

Fantastic, I'll get on and order then.

Many thanks:thumb:

where do they ship from, are they copies... grey imports??

I fancy one of these.. almost £200 cheaper than LcE....

but would it come with the 5 yr warranty you get when buying in the uk?

They are ok, I only ever had 1 problem and that was a VAT issue.

My nephew ordered a Canon Lens from abroad - it was much cheaper than here in the UK - he got hit with taxes .............. the courier collected the tax before he would hand over the parcel - !!!!!

I always just get Jessops to price match, then I walk out the shop with it - and know I can return it easily if need be.

What happens if you pay the taxes and open the box to find it is broken? Taxes lost I guess? Then to post back to abroad ..... nah, too risky for me!

I bought a Canon 7D from them last year. It's not covered by Canon's warranty it came with Digitalrev's own.
It was shipped from Hong Kong and worked out about £300 cheaper then buying from the UK. The only difference I could see was it had Chinese manuals and software and a non UK charger, but they supplied an adapter.
I would have no worries about ordering anything from them again especially lenses which have less chance of going wrong than a camera.

whats the import duty on electrical from HK?

then VAT and vat on postage too. I could then be up to the price in the UK....

BUT.... UK Tamron has a 5 yr warranty ;)

you don't pay any import tax on purchases from digital Rev.

DigitalRev have a UK office that handles any returns so you don't get that issue, but it's a fair point for other companies.

The other thing to consider is that as it is covered by Nikon Asia, for example, and Nikon UK issued a recall (D600 shutters?) but Nikon Asia did not, you would have to pay for that out of your own pocket.

But, I have used them in the past, and the savings are quite often enough to offset that anyway.

One last thing, someone said you don't pay import taxes with Digital Rev. That is not strictly true. They mark the package as having low value, so it should avoid taxes, but HM Customs have the right to open any package, so you can still get hit with it. Sometimes they don't take kindly to it either! If you were avoiding £200 of taxes, would you really want to hand that over to a courier?

Some of the Digital Rev sales have a no tax guarantee, but I have not had to invoke that.

There's another company based in Hong Kong called Panamoz. www.panamoz.com I've not used them though but they seem to get some good reviews. A bit cheaper than Digitalrev as well.
