tyre sizes front and back??
Just wondering on tyre sizes soon to be fitting new wheels and carlton flares to my blob project, thinking of putting 285/40/18 on the back and 265/40/18 at the front... can I do this? Or can it damage the diff with different tyre sizes?
Thanks ryan |
You're going to get different answers here, many will be of the ill-informed "Do it mate, it worked great on my RS Turbo..." type :(
The short answer is this: find an online wheel-size calculator, and enter the numbers above. Don't forget wheel sizes. If the rolling radii are more than 1% different, you will wind up the centre diff. It's your car, you can take the risk if you want, of course. HTH |
Thanks for the advise
wheels are XXR 530 18x9.75 et20 tyres front thinking 265/40/18 Rear 285/40/18 Cheers ryan |
Here's the difference in rolling diameter: 669.2mm 685.2mm
That's about 2% larger. I wouldn't, but it's up to you......... |
Ok mate cheers for advise.. not sure what tyres to go for all round tho..

Can you not go 265 all round? Or does anyone do 275?

play with the calc further
you listed front 265/40/18 (try 265/45/18) etc - you'll find it'll be less 'out' Rear 285/40/18 |
