Prodriverules.....work your magic.

My car didnt sell so i am going to carry on with my original plans.
Ryan is doing a full respray and few other bits and pieces.
If the car turns out as good as the previous two i will be well pleased.

prodriverules 25 August 2012 11:09 AM

I most certainly will Dave and good to see you again this morning mate:thumb:

So Dave's car is in for a full respray but before we do the nice shiny bits it needs some mechanical work doing, for on the list is a clutch and flywheel replacement and while we are there a rear crank seal.
The clutch kit of choice is a pink box organic with light weight flywheel to match from Mark@ Lateral Performance, the bite point on the clutch pedal on Dave's car was starting to get near the top which is the main reason for changing but upon removal it was definitely a good decision as the friction plate was on it's last legs and given Dave's tune[350/350] on a standard clutch I dare say it would have given up the ghost very soon!
Another job on the list is to remove the inlet manifold for powder coating along with the turbo heat shield,I won't say what colour until it returns and I can show a picture of it but it will be bright to say the least!
Here's a few pics of the state of play now, just waiting on the manifold to return from powder coating and Trevor my parts man at Hylton shrewsbury to get back to me about the gaskets etc we need for installation.

Update time
Manifold came back from the powder coaters along with the heat shield and tumbler covers so we set about re-installing the parts, all went smoothly although trying to install a freshly coated manifold without scratching it is rather time consuming to be fair as you need to be so careful and not rush.
During the install we also replaced the panel filter with a green panel filter along with fuel filter and also took the opportunity to change out the IC to TB and turbo to Y pipe silicone hoses with some viper performance blue hoses Dave had purchased.
During the install we also went about replacing the bolts with the polished items Dave had purchased in the group buy from ironbridge.

It has lifted the engine bay look right up with the 'bright colour' Dave choose and after I have painted the air intake trunk it will look rather good as the colours offset each other nicely in opinion.

Last job was to test drive to check the clutch/flywheel package and make sure everything was hunky dory which it was so it was time for a chemical clean so the bodywork can commence.

Cannon Fodder 14 September 2012 07:07 PM

Well the yellow certainly stands out in the engine bay, it wouldn't be my choice but we all have different tastes.

Carry on with the good work. :)

each to their own !!

stonejedi 14 September 2012 08:06 PM

To each there own mate,it looks nice:thumb:.

JonMc 14 September 2012 08:10 PM

Looks tidy, but I wonder how long the powder coat on the heat shield will last:wonder:

Has the bit point changed with the new clutch because mine is still quite high even after that change:rolleyes:

prodriverules 14 September 2012 08:13 PM

Honestly Jon not a lot,it's slightly lower but a MUCH firmer bite when engaged!

JonMc 14 September 2012 08:18 PM

Agree, the bite is much more positive but my pedal still sits a touch higher. I suppose with me not driving it for so long I wouldn't have noticed a small change:wonder:

prodriverules 14 September 2012 08:25 PM

That's true, tbho I haven't driven one with a lowish pedal yet, they all seem to have a high bite point when compared to most other cars.

Tony Harrington 14 September 2012 08:48 PM

winston69 14 September 2012 10:22 PM

BaV 21 September 2012 01:38 PM

Dave Y 21 September 2012 02:20 PM

I had a drive over to Leominster today to have a look.I have to be honest i am well pleased it is all taking shape very nicely. It should be ready for the Prodrive day.

M444GY 21 September 2012 03:20 PM

looks good dave :thumb: that heatshield wont last long though :( i had my manifold powdercoated and where it meets the block (even with spacers ) it has gone matte ish due to the heat

Dave Y 21 September 2012 05:02 PM

Here's a few pics of the shell now painted, got to say I'm very happy with the out come although the pics are just straight of the gun finish and she still requires de-knibbing and a lick with the polisher.
The bonnet/boot,bumpers/sill covers are now in high build primer and will be painted this week ready to do the final assembly.

Amazing work as usual Ryan.

Dave Y 23 September 2012 04:07 PM

What the fcuk is de-nibbing ??

prodriverules 23 September 2012 04:17 PM

:lol1:
It's rubbing down any dust particles that found there way into the clear coat while painting(usually come off the operator) and then polishing the rubbed mark back up to the high gloss finish.

Dave Y 23 September 2012 04:22 PM

Well now i know.

IainMilford 23 September 2012 08:26 PM
