Light weight pulleys
Hello,
I'm considering getting a set of light weight pulleys, most likely from CDF racing, just wondering, is there much benefit from the standard heavy ones? Also, does it need a map? Or is it nothing to do with mapping? |
no map required, but ive heard the cdf ones arent the best of fit, butcant confirm this as ive never used them.
|
Not sure where you heard that but our pulleys fit perfect
cheers chris |
I think I have a friend who has cdf one's and they went on fine, I will check,
Chris, how much for a 1997 uk turbo without power steering, looking for black or blue, is it just 3, can I re-use the belt that goes around them? Thanks PS, I ordered a TMIC tilt kit last week, not received anything yet, I don't suppose you know when they are being sent? Thanks David |

We don't do the pulleys without powersteering as the same belt runs the alternator, we do them without aircon... will drop you a pm in the morning if thats ok as I am just leaving work now:thumb: |

there are 3 pulleys on mine. i had to take off my front bumper,fmic,25 row oil cooler, rad. because the crank pulley was tight and had to use a air gun

The CDF crank pulley was much tighter than the stock one. I was stupid enough to force it into place so next cambelt change will be a pain.

|
I received a set of CDF lightweight pulleys today and having looked at them I have to say I am impressed by the quality and how much lighter they are than the standard items. :notworthy
|
You beat me to it Ty! I have these on my shopping list for the rebuilt block.
|
do you use the original bolt from the standard 2 tone pulley ?
|
So,what do they do for performance then?
Have been chewing over getting some,if they actually do something other than look pretty and lower car weight by a few kg's. |
cdf mite have another customer as im goin to change my timming belt this week so itgs a perfect time to fit 1 :)

Guys ,
The stock pulley is actually made from two pieces. Because is it very heavy it has a damper in it ( the rubber piece in the middle) after a few years ( we find around 8-10) this damper is known to split and cause the crank pulley to split in two. We sell quite a few of our pulleys for this reason as ours are from 1 piece and can never split. The kits are very light, the crank weighs around 500grams compared to 2.5 kilos. You will noitce a better throttle response and maybe pick up a few bhp's;) |
Looks like something else is going on my ever growing list :norty:!!
