Meguiars Quik Clay system
Probably not the correct place to post this but here is my view on this product having used it last weekend.
Sorry no pics just my views! Car: Green Classic Turbo 4dr 2001 X 30,000 miles Over the years I,ve tried many different t-cuts polishes etc with different results, searching for that super smooth 'as new' finish which in turn gives a better gloss finish. While happy with most products I always felt the paint didn't feel smooth enough to the touch (especially metallic and clear coat paints). I,d read about a new clay system so after umming and arrring for 2 weeks took the plunge and purchased the above Clay from Halfords. WHAT A RESULT! Finally after all these years the paint is as smooth as any brand new car, with no bits that used to drag the polish. The car was already washed and waxed and the dirt that came off onto the clay was unreal the best car care product i,ve purchased and thats quite alot of products (don't tell the other half). Took about 4 hrs to clay it and then re-polish it but well worth it. If your car feels grainy or not totally smooth when you run your hand across the paintwork try this product or any other Clay bar system (probably all much the same) Sorry about the long report but pictures cannot do this justice! |
It is an amazing (if not a little labour intensive) product.
My car (non-Scooby) usually looks like this due to living down a Devon lane.. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...N/P1020082.jpg But after using the Megs Clay Bar,it cleans up fantasticly, and leaves such a good finish to the paint, especially when sealed with a good coat of Meg's Gold Class wax. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...R/P4100007.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...R/P4100013.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...R/P4100003.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...R/P4100011.jpg (excuse the Pimp pose in the reflection!) |
I just wrote about this thing in members gallery!
It is a strange thing I thought didn't seem to do anything but leaves a very smooth finish and does remove filth - filth you can't normally see. Not sure I'd buy another one to be honest, although will definately get more of the Quik Detailer - excellent stuff. |
Oi wot you doin' over here Gunn79? :p
Get back over to UJCC. lol Great pics mate. Car looks great. Love the CTR Cheers, Mudfrog |

Im just loving the Clay bar :D
Paint smoove as a Baby's Bum !!!! Shiny as well after the detailer ;) Tiny... |
have read about this a few times on here over the past few months and having had a couple of small dents removed last week, i think it's time to give it a go!
i thought there was a pretty good reflection off most of the panels on my car with the nxt generation wax, but i'm pretty sure i couldn't take a photo of a pimp pose as clear as that! |
I couldn't agree more with the above.. got some from Ebay the other week and the car's looking great now.. smooth as a baby's bum..! :)

Make sure you have washed the car first, then just follow simple instructions on the packet (Meguiars). Spray on quik detailer (acts as a lubricant) onto desired area then rub clay bar over wetted surface until you feel the paint go smooth as glass. After treatment apply polish as normal. Doesn't make it any shinier really but gives that new car feel to paintwork!
It hopefully makes washing and waxing easier in the future as the paint is much smoother to the touch. |
I used this stuff for the first time on Sunday, and, yeah what a finish. :)
But while I was doing it, I thought, what if I got a bit of grit on the clay :( |
Yeah keep clay bar in a clean place whilst working on car, much like your polishing cloths/sponge etc. Keep it in a small plastic sandwich bag or something similar.

guys dont waste your instant detailer as the lubrication for clay bars !
Use a warm diluted car bath solution instead ! its easier to use & the warmth softens the clay bar too ! will save money also & will allow the detailer to be used for other jobs such as removing bird crap ! Always use a clean surface of the clay bar & reforming it |

I would reccomend what fulham71 says, ive been using clay bars for about 3 years now in the bodytrade it has a multitude of uses, we,ve used it to even remove paint specs on new cars all we use is 3m cleaner clay a bucket of hot soapy water it makes the clay warm and easy to bend around swage line and the such saves so much time

Update: Just spent around 4 hours washing, claying and Gold Classing the car.The polish is a superb product, beautiful deep shine, no white deposits, quite easy to use.
I like the fact that you have to wax the whole car first, let it all dry, then polish it all off in one go. This is a much easier method than the traditional panel-by-panel method, which takes so much time. As for the clay........hmmmmmmm. Sufficient to say this is going back to Halfrauds tomorrow under Meguir's return's policy. WB |
