It is UK legal, to lock it you have a little bit tool that fits in through blade/scales. But i would not like to say take it to a football match. Several reasons, one it can still be deadly, two, you could cause a stir as the law is so gray and easy to be misunderstood either side of it.

Could get away on keys as no weight, just pushing it a little. Depends what your use to carry .

:lol1: your not alone, not sure how hard its hit you but some throw $6000+ on 1 off custom knives, flashlight wise. Most expensive has been a jeff hanko custom that was sold off for charity. That got $8000 for it.............Check jeff hanko's lights out(on facebook i believe). Twisted trident was his last creation, all done by hand...........

Lol, Me too... although I don't have the disposable income these days :( I still like the odd bit or bob that I can justify to myself... :Suspiciou if it's not too expensive, but I have kind of gone off watches, but still have probably 10 or so, if I were to dig them all out.

I think the only real danger with all this stuff is that it gets stuck in a draw or cupboard somewhere or god forbid... the loft... never to see the light of day, which is something that's pretty much happened to my watches, scuba gear, horse riding gear, carp fishing gear, motorbike stuff, shooting accessories, track and sprint car... the list goes on. :cuckoo: :lol1::lol1:

On the subject of knives, I've got a Gerber Paraframe at home. Got no real use for it but it's such a good looking bit of kit that i had to have one. :facepalm2:

Ven,I have that little Gerber.Useful little thing but still a liner lock so presume illegal out and about ?I stick to a bug and a victorinox classic for the keys.

I have an hard on for Olight at the moment

Really like the look of that x9, 5mins(if proves true!) on (thought it is 20k not 25k) but either way to the eye at that level is a mere blip up anyway. Is impressive! I dont believe the $400 asking price though, not when lights like the x65 at $500 . Proprietary packs add $100+ to the bill, then there is the twin fan set up(kind of a novelty feature, how it proves worth while is to be seen.......literally).

The pop can looks nice, but the x7vn kicks its a55 already at 16,000lm and is simply too much output for its size. 12k wont be that much better, turboS or what ever they call it , will be a minute or 2 . Just not enough mass to cope with that kind of output. Heck the x65vn at 10,500lm struggles past 2m .........and that is a fair size light compared to the x7!

The x9 looks similar in size to the rc40 and x65, 20k+ lumens .................those fans are going to have to work seriously hard! IMHO its too much to ask 5m at that, time will tell.................:)

I have the lenser k1 on my keyring, don't have a knife on my keys as I don't like my keys to be too bulky, I keep one in the ashtray in the car.

Olight are claiming 25,000 and a vn pop can isn't easy/quick/cheap to get, especially the way the dollar is going and Vinh's high postage, so the X7R is a godsend. Managed to get some great deals on new Olight gear and free p&p.

Vinh's cw x7vn is 14,500 lumen Ansi and the x7R 12,000 and I suspect the latter will have a far nicer tint going by what I've read

Basically to get the X7 off Vinh it would have cost £300 and taken 3 months.

For a drop in lumens my eye wont detect I'm hoping to pay sub £200 and have it within 2 weeks. I will probably prefer the Olight UI too and vinh often ditches the inbuilt charging.

Yes exchange rate is not very good.....................shocking! Depending on light, the rc40vnT and x65vn both have drivervnx2 and retain charging. Would have thought the x7r would also regardless of driver. He likes olights UI anyway, so more than likely stay factory depending on output levels.

I wonder why they don't push for more lumens, wonder if it's heat to the hand, iffy runtime, danger to battery or life of LED? I asked Going Gear a couple of weeks ago why they don't get companies to make them special editions to rival Vinh torches and they told me they have been working with companies on it and Vinh!

Vinh has played a HUGE part in the lights we have today, 100% on that. He has always pushed boundaries and even now does. Manufacturers are catching him, but do not offer the flexibility in driver programming . Also he offers alternative LED's along with different colour temps/tints. So he will be good for a while now..............his 40,000lm rc40vn40 for a start. Makes me wonder if 60k is possible with the x9.............:D

Acebeam are ahead of the game to other manufacturers as well as olight. Its a good time to be a flashaholic for sure. Fenix are lagging, playing it too safe(boring) but still offer a decent quality light.

Now the x9 will be a beast, however $400(my guess $500-$600) and no doubt 6500k. This for a flood light(design shows a flood light with the reflector design) needs a more neutral temp, 5000k would be a safe happy/medium. Set levels also are restrictive these days imho, much better to program.

Take the dr jones lucid driver, 2 mode groups, each programmable to how many levels and how bright each one.

Very user friendly and what tarik uses(tana) among others. I have it in downloads pocket rocket ti. 8 quick presses, 2 presses to switch group1 and group2. I have a single mode KISS (keep it simple stupid) at a manageable output, then group 2 has 3 levels, low,med and high, then double tap for a turbo mode. Each level is set by me which starts super low and ramps up in 24 levels.

Imagine this flexibility to tune in an x9 to your exact mode levels, and mode amounts. 6 modes too many for most lights. Pick your own............

I'd love other torch makers to incorporate the timer feature and maybe take it further with count down to timer on options.

Did Vinh ever state Ansi on his RC40vn40 or lumens for a 5000k version.

Dont think so, usually loose up to 10% but its not noticeable, and the little you loose is made up for better colour. Not only that, but LED specs can vary 5-10%.............Safe to say 35k+ .

I could buy one and measure 38k, you could buy one and measure 42k . Its only a rough guide and vinhs measurements are a conservative rough guide and comparative to his other lights.

You could go 6000k for the quads, 4000 or 5000k for the xhp70's.

I like the look of the Lumintop Torpedo 007 keychain light. 520 lumens, and 1000 for the vn version, shame it's not usb rechargeable though.

Yes looks a nice little light,500lm is more than enough for keychain and will get toasty quick. 1000lm will be WOW, but bit pointless really. Might refresh my work key chain light(TiS) as been on for a few years now. Fancy something 5000k as cool white I don't bother with anymore.

Oops just realised the knife I bought for edc is illegal.

Obviously I can not say carry it on a public forum or advise ways of, just use around the home and "camping" type uses. Generally a knife in a holster stashed away for every day type uses does not arouse suspicion. When was the last time you was even searched if ever? exactly...............however getting into any kind of trouble and it found on your person may not go in your favour(not saying you will or would but an example of where innocent things can go wrong).

Getting a 16" john rambo knife out in a bank and opening a letter is also not advised :D

So common sense is all you need, or keep it simple and stick within guide lines that are very gray anyway...........

Under 3" and not locking is fine for EDC, not sure on blade length that can lock and be carried but presume less than 2.5". Need to research that one and make an educated guess from all the conflicting info you will come across. Generally if you have a use and can prove it(may go hunting and skin rabbits for example). This will be looked at different than a night round the town with a commando knife. (silly example)
