There are 141,000 policemen in the UK of all ranks for 60 million citizens for me there should be at least 500,000 in order to deliver a police service that responds quickly and protects the public.

However, I do have a question if one of the boys in blue/black would answer it for me.....I've been led to believe that a speed gun can only be used if the police officer/staff believes the motorist is speeding, so they are not supposed to sit there pointing up the road waiting to catch all and sundry offenders coming towards them... Vicious rumour. No law about that at all mate, well within legislation to sit there pointing it at the road. as for point about needing 500,000 cops i totally agree, the more out there the less crime happens. Fact. Unfortunatley who now wants to be a cop, only those who really feel its for them i don't doubt. |
I can understand your point about the accellerated promotion of your fast tracked career officers. Saw all that happening for long enough in my own Service.
The job get done in the best way for the career of the man in charge and not for the sake of getting it done the best way. The next ones up for promotion will always be similar types because they fit in and so it goes on. The reports which go up the line are what the bosses want to hear and not necessari;ly what is really happening of course. Once this situation gets well ensconced it is very difficult to do anything about it short of a major change at the very top or a revolution! Les |
