Made me laugh when they took fellaini off then spent 5 minutes putting balls into the box. Awful performance today. I think we are actually missing Rooney. Amongst a lot of other things.

For me Dea gae played well, Depay and for once Fellni. But 3 players on forum isn't good enough, carrick was ok, but passes back to much.

Willowsdad 13 December 2015 03:05 PM

Carrick is always looking for the killer ball, trying to cut open teams. I think he's lacking a lot of movement in front of him so he's going sideways more. Teams are also setting up well against United, as they know if they're disciplined United are lacking the creativity to break them down. On paper depay, martial, and mata should be pacey and creative enough between them, but it's just not working.

P1Fanatic 13 December 2015 04:32 PM

We are certainly lacking any real pace all over the pitch and everyone else knows it and exploits it. Martial seems to be the only one willing to take players on. Shaw was the only other player who seems to have genuine pace.

Have you noticed how our big signings have all started very well and fizzled out. Di Maria, Depay and Martial. What is LvG doing to cause that?

jayallen 13 December 2015 05:27 PM

Got beat by the better team :thumb:...."We're AFC Bournemouth we come from league two" utciad

jaygsi 14 December 2015 01:36 PM

At the end of the day players need to settle in, if Van Gaal can keep a good defensive record, then he has time to try to sort the attacking out, nothing worse that a team who aren't scoring and letting in goals which seems to be what Chelsea have been doing.

I think Van Gaal needs longer to prove himself, people jump on managers to fast, at laest theres one ray of light Smalling who was playing awful last season and look like he was going is now playing really well. :thumb:

If we hadnt kept De Gea our defensive record would be a lot worse.

jaygsi 16 December 2015 12:52 PM

True, although smalling has been making some saves himself, think he's becoming a decent centre back at one time they where thinking of letting him go, as he wasn't playing well.

The Joshua Tree 19 December 2015 05:46 PM

Another performance that stunk the place out, can't believe i sat and watched that for 90 mins after saying to myself that i'll never sit through another United game until LVG has disappeared along with his philosophy.

Mata was awful, constantly giving the ball away, losing possession. The only outfield player who looks like any sort of threat is Martial, he doesn't get enough quality ball tho to take advantage of it.

Can't think of anything else related to that game that's worth typing other than well done to Norwich.

Willowsdad 19 December 2015 05:55 PM

Actually enjoyed the first half hour. A lot more attacking than normal (still no bloody shots on target though!) after going 1-0 down it was same old until they showed some urgency at the end. Lvg needs to adapt his philosophy to suit the team, because trying to make them play his way isn't working. Even giggs was looking frustrated, maybe he needs to re register as a player.

They didn't have a single shot on target until around the 60th minute, you say they were attacking, i'd say it was more possession with no end product. The final ball and crossing was terrible, it was either too high, or the cross hit the defenders or it was over hit. The amount of ball that Mata gave away was getting comical, under hit passes straight to defenders, over hit passes to nobody etc

Your bound to have more ball at home when your playing someone like Norwich, it's what you do with it that counts, United don't have the quality to do anything with it even against a side like Norwich, no disrespect intended to them.

elgassi 19 December 2015 06:33 PM

This hurts me to say, but we are dire and the Moyes loosing feeling is back

This also kills me to say but the way Rodgers had Liverpool playing at one stage was like a breath of fresh air, they were on it, good possession, fast and clinical
Leicester, up and at you, quick, sharp and can finish, even Bournemouth, fast on the break, working as a team, playing to their strengths
Everything that we are not

We are lacking in just about every position
how many players are worthy of the Red shirt ?
DDG, Martial, Shaw, Smalling
Depay, Jones not sure

Schweinsteiger, Mata, Fellaini, Blind, Herrera, Rooney, Carrick need to go within the next year or so
We are struggling BIG time, but please, please NO Jose

Funkii Munkii 19 December 2015 10:59 PM

A leader, we lack a leader no one was grabbing the team by the scruff of the neck, this is becoming shambolic

hodgy0_2 20 December 2015 12:11 AM

Roy Keane?

Arsenal had Tony Adams / Keown

Maybe the problem with Chelsea is that John Terry has given up

for as much as I don't like JT, one thing I don't think you could accuse him of is giving up, I think maybe old Father Time has caught up with him, his legs are like lead treading water, if you've ever played football or sport, you'll know what I mean, your head knows what to do but you can't get your body to react, the easiest things become a nightmare - it's gone :(

jaygsi 20 December 2015 02:26 AM

Well theres lots of rumours about Marino and united, not sure if thats the right move. To be honest its not all about buying expensive players, its getting the team to work together, Alex ferguson did well with that.

And as has been said Leicester and Bournemouth are looking really good, and they have spent a fraction of the big clubs. Don't no whats best to do. Giggs is an option, but not sure if hes ready yet.

urban 20 December 2015 01:19 PM

I knew things would be bad after Alex Ferguson, but never thought it would get this bad.

Who is the right man for United though - Guardiola?

Willowsdad 20 December 2015 02:01 PM

Guardiola is the right man for everybody, and last year I would've loved mourinho too. This year he's had problems that he's never had to face before, and it seems like he lost the dressing room which is not what Utd need right now. They should stick with lvg till the end of the season and hope to finish top 4, and if they can land Guardiola next season then happy days. Lvg just doesn't suit Utd, and a change will be needed for next season.

jaygsi 21 December 2015 12:38 PM

Sounds like good advice, don't think swapping managers every 5 mins works either. Be ace if Giggs could do the job and make a success.

P1Fanatic 21 December 2015 12:50 PM

Pep said he wants a new challenge - united would certainly give him that lol. Not sure he is that brave. Mourinho I hope not for his off pitch antics. Giggs - probably too soon for him but then could he really do any worse than Moyes and LvG?

Funkii Munkii 21 December 2015 01:32 PM

For me it is all about the style of football, if LVG does go whoever comes in needs to remember the biggest star at OT is the club not the manager nor any player.

I think we've missed out on the best manager for the role as BM have snapped him up.

urban 21 December 2015 01:50 PM

I can't see how LVG doesn't end up getting sacked here.

Funkii Munkii 21 December 2015 04:49 PM

I suppose if Jose does come in and starts messing about we can just sack him, after all we are becoming a sacking club....

Pep will stun everyone and take over from Wenger :norty:

sprigeteer 23 December 2015 01:27 PM

We're doing better than I thought we would be this season. Just look at the squad. Who's in there that is truly world class and proven? We've sleep-walked into a large but relatively low quality squad. Rooney is on the wane (no pun intended) and we have no leaders on the pitch. If we finish top 4 we'll have over-performed. Defensively we were shocking last year, so at least that's better. We need to score more, but there is so little talent in the mid-field where are the killer balls and runs coming from? Stick with LVG and get Giggsy trained up for the future.

Yeh i've looked at the squad, the same squad that LVG has spent £250m on.

He's had far more money made available to him than David Moyes had so he's bound to do better than Moyes but given what LVG has spent on the squad it's doing nowhere near good enough for the money that he's blown, and yeh blown is probably the right term for his overall spending.

Apart from Martial and Shaw, his other signings including Blind, Rojo, Darmian, Memphis, Schweinsteiger, Schneiderlin, Valdes, Romero, Falcao, Di Maria and Herrera have failed to set the place alight, even Memphis has been inconsistent, he's either very good or far too often very poor. The majority of those names above are nowhere near Manchester United standard and that's the problem, his spending hasn't been good, his judgement on signings has been poor overall.

Personally i wouldn't give him another penny to blow, his style of football is dull and doesn't suit Manchester United, as a person he's very dull and uninspiring. He's a dictator, it's his way or now way which is one of the reasons why he's upset so many top named players throughout his career.

I said before we signed him that he's a poor fit for United and his previous recent record as a manager wasn't very good, getting sacked seemed to be the norm with him in recent times.

I don't think Mourhino would be a good fit for United, his dull safety first football wouldn't be suited to a club like Manchester United. We need an attack minded manager whose a proven world class manager and not one that's past his sell by date like LVG.

jaygsi 23 December 2015 06:48 PM

Did you not see Fergie? He upset big players, and it was his way or hit the road, hence why we lost big players like Beckham and jap stam. Although i believe he was on first name basis with all the staff, which helped his being popular.

I think you have it wrong with Fergie, he certainly wasn't a dictator, he allowed players on the pitch to express themselves and he knew how to get the best out of players and their natural ability. As an example, he never tried to change the way Ronaldo plays, the same with Beckham, the same with Giggsy, Scholes and Keane etc

Beckham and Stam left for mainly non footballing issues, Stam i don't want to go into but people will know why he left and why Fergie didn't want him around the team especially the younger players. Fergie felt with Beckham that he was leading too much of a celebrity lifestyle with Posh etc and that was impacting on his football, they both still get on very well.

LVG has a natural talent for upsetting players, he's got a track record of it. On the pitch it's his way or no way, he reigns in someone's natural ability to get them to play how he wants them to play rather than letting their flair and natural ability take over.

jaygsi 23 December 2015 07:17 PM

Ok i see your point, not sure who would be the best idea for new manager. Not sure if it would be best to give him more time or not. To be honest man u should of checked his style of play before hiring him. I really wish Giggs was the man, as i can see him staying there for years, but think he needs to manage a few other clubs first.
