Ieast you'd know it's been properly check over before you bought it. Bug eye's are getting to be the new classic.

Well, I cured the problem.......I sold it :D.

My Focus RS is about to be built, my local dealer offered me a silly cash price for the STi, so it's gone.

Currently smoking around in a Renault Sport Clio 182 that was as cheap as chips - only paid £1k for it, will do me for a daily station car until the RS arrives.

I test drove a Focus RS last weekend, it is awesome, and leaves the STi for dead handling wise. Right choice

I think that's a good price if you can land it for 11-12K. I was talking about 12K for my 08 which has covered more miles and is forged to a similar standard

If a 2litre you'll be ok and cheaper road tax too.

salsa-king 14 August 2016 06:09 PM

We've been out all day in the Forester today.
Two kiddies bikes... one with stabilizers. Pushchair plus keep cool bag and my camera gear.

Couldn't have done that on the wifes Focus or my 330s

Imotepify 14 August 2016 07:41 PM

All of the ones I've found are 2.5 lol

Have started reading it, do you think it's about the correct price and do you know of any mods that should be done asap?

It looks good. It's had a major service with cam belt by the looks of it, which has saved £700 to start with. Make sure you get evidence of this and the jap history that came with it. Looks to be a nice example. If it's serviced well then it should be fine.

You may need to consider a remap, as it will be the standard tune for 101 grade Japanese petrol. You will need to ensure it's run on 99 grade at the lowest to avoid detonation and piston damage until remapped.

I still think there is room in that price to haggle a little personally.

Imotepify 15 August 2016 03:37 PM

Any recommendations on where 2 get a remap done, only have BP ultimate near us unless we are on a trip out of town :(

BrownPantsRacing 15 August 2016 04:02 PM

You're a bit far away from everyone TBH, but you're probably best talking to Roger Clark Motorsport (RCM) in Leicester or giving Duncan (RaceDynamix) a call as he maps at Surrey Rolling road every Thursday. Both a couple of hours away.

Imotepify 15 August 2016 11:05 PM

2 hrs drive 2 get it running on our fuel is fine, how would it run on BP ultimate without a remap? I don't drive 2 hard and haven't bounced a car on the rev limiter for a long while lol

BrownPantsRacing 15 August 2016 11:54 PM

I wouldn't run it on BP personally as I've not heard good things about BP petrol. If you can I'd use Tesco 99, shell 99 or Esso after that. Mine has been in the UK for 2 years now and only run on Tesco and shell as far as I know. It's still got the jap map and is running fine. Mine is finally getting mapped next week.

It's not about bouncing the car off the rev limiter. The higher the octane grade of the petrol, the less prone to detonation the engine is. Detonation causes heat and damage to valves and pistons, ultimately causing engines to destroy themselves.

bioforger 16 August 2016 11:47 AM

Which only happens when the engine is under any load, so just take it easy and don't rag it until its had a mapping session or checkup.

Imotepify 16 August 2016 05:37 PM

That's what I was saying lol how long can they run on our fuel with normal driving without the worry of damage?

bioforger 16 August 2016 05:54 PM

As long as you want lol its not going to implode, just use decent 99ron fuel. Either Shell or Tesco Ultimate.

Imotepify 16 August 2016 08:25 PM

That's the problem I've only got BP or Jet or Sainsburys near 2 us, unless I just top it up each time we arrived out of town lol

bioforger 16 August 2016 09:11 PM

Sigh :) BP will also be ok mate, don't worry about it and take what you read on the net/forums with a pinch of salt ;)

Lots of people have been running standard 2.5's for years with no issues on 98ron.

Disclaimer: i take no responsibility for may or may not happen in the future lol yes this is a joke.
