Quite involved. Slightly over expose the pic for the brightest part of the car. In this case the far side of the bonnet. This will give you a good chuck of the sillouhette as it will throw the darker areas into under exposure. It helps if you've got spot metering on the camera.

In PS use the burn tool to darken the already heavilly shaddowed areas. and the darker tones on the parts of the car you still want to see. This leaves you with the highlights. Then convert to b&w. Doing this gives you even more of the sillouhette effect. Go into Image Adjustments and have a play around with the curves. It'll let you keep the highlights and darken the shaddows even more. Pick up the darkest colour which by now should be solid black. Using a hard edge brush go around the car to finish it off.

I need to go over and dodge in the highlights to make it a bit more promenant in the shot above. Spent about an hour and a half on that last night, needs about another hour to get it really spot on.

Quite a moody effect huh :D

Need to get the battle wagon cleaned and photographed now it's back on the road ;)

pinseeker 19 October 2009 11:36 PM

Is everyone OK for a photo shoot on Sunday 18th Oct @ TRU Bas'don car park?? I think if everyone's there by 9am we should have enough time for a few piccys :thumb:

If you need a stocking filler these make an excellent Christmas prezzie and you help the Essex Air Ambulance:top:;):top:

We are also looking into the possibility of adding the regular dates for the Posers, HWH and Lodge meetings to the dates as well. If this can be accommodated it will be :)

Cost will be £7.99 for an A4 calendar, of which at least £1 will be donated to the Essex Air Ambulance. If we can get the numbers up to around a hundred this will be more. :notworthy:thumb::notworthy

Pictures need to be sent over in as high a resolution as possible to george@copybase.co.uk :thumb:

Sam, George and myself will collect monies at the various meets wherever possible or payments can be sent into Copybase just like the Karting

We can also post out at cost if required :thumb:

Do you still want to meet tonight mate?

V4JDMSTi 22 October 2009 04:13 PM

Sorry fella, as per text

Right guys and gals, I've been getting some feedback on the images I posted up here and a lot of the semi pro and pro togs are saying tha the thumbnails are spoiling the pics. What's your views? I'll process whatever the car owner wants for their pic. Can you just let me know :thumb:

Milamber 22 October 2009 05:11 PM

on BeeSTi's do the smaller pictures with a heavy vignette so they blend in a bit more.

With the white car, the borders are all over the shop. Like the top 2 shots but not the 3rd. Particularly like the top left as a contrast to the main shot and the then the detail of the zorst.

Sounds like a good idea :thumb:
Although as Chris suggests it would be better to uniform the borders;)

I think the silhoutte of BeeSTi's is such a cracking shot :notworthy that it spoils it a bit to have the other shots in it, a vignette will soften the edges but maybe have that as the cover with some nice arty Text saying it's the ESC Calender.

Put me down for one by the way. :thumb:

V4JDMSTi 22 October 2009 09:28 PM

The white classic was a 5 min mock up hence the borders being off. ;) The thumbnails down the side or along the bottom is a good idea :thumb:

I agree that Beesti's would be better just as the main shot.

V4JDMSTi 22 October 2009 10:47 PM

Beesti re done.

Milamber 22 October 2009 11:39 PM

I'd just put some nice text with a drop shadow and leave as is.

This picture is superb and just needs to be a statement.

The white classic was much better with the smaller pics, all in my humble opinion of course.

Try moving the pics down the side maybe?

Milamber 22 October 2009 11:41 PM

Can you pull out some detail from the rear quarter?

There are a few names who we have not received piccies from. Can you mail over your pics in as high a res as possible ASAP as we need to get these ordered.

Remember the res has to be 300dpi minimum ;)
