Yes it is about removing peoples rights ffs. What right does a sports car driver or a 4x4 driver to inflict their foul poisonous and unnecessary filth over others? We should all be using environmentaly friendly trains and buses don't ya know. There should be enclosed public places left where smokers can get on with things without Mary Whitehouse types lecturing them with ignorance and holier-than-thou attitudes.

As I've already said, the smugness some people show on this thread will soon be wiped out when their pleasurable pursuit it withdrawn from them in the witchhunt by the health/safety/religious/environment nutter lobbyists. And you know what I'll say, fcuk ya.

I was recently at the local hospital and found it quite astounding how many doctors and nurses were outside smoking! You'd think that with everyone harping on about how much smoking costs the NHS - the doctors and nurses would be the first to not be so public with their habbit!
I beleive that everyone has a "vice" - we all need something to relax, some drink, others smoke - I don't want to personally breathe in other peoples fumes - but as a country we are getting to be too politically correct with far too much red tape and "procedures".

I may be bitter, but I'm not twisting anything and I'm no addict. If you like the occasional beer are you an addict? I don't roll out of bed and start puffing away, don't do it at work or at home. Just have the occasional one when I'm out.

Pretty high incidences of alcholism and drug abuse as well IIRC

I packed in smoking when my son was born 4 months ago, and I never intend to smoke again.

I did enjoy it mostly, it didn't cost me any money (smoked rollies), but the health issues worried me and I didn't want my son associating me with the smell of smoke. I actually feel much WORSE since stopping, but I know that will fade with time.

So, the ban is great for me, but I still don't believe it was the right thing to do - what is the next easy target? Road tax is already being upped massively for performance cars, so what next?
