What is it that you've done to the Mocal take off ?

I'm doing away with the stock oil/water modine and just running the Mocal. The fixing is too long and too narrow for the Mocal. So it has been shortened, had the thread cut further down the shank and had a sleeve turned and tig welded on so now it fits the Mocal like an OEM part. Pretty easy to do and now it fits perfect. |
O right. So I take it this now sits closer to the block without the oil/water modine ? I always feel like my oil cooler plate makes my oil filter sit too low down. Scared of hitting something one day and getting it ripped off!

Lol, who knows Matt, maybe someone might offer me a job as an engine builder? A motorsport team would be nice :)

Check out the take off fitted in the last pic. You can see how close it mounts to the block now. Its only on there loose at the moment as i dont know where i'll want the pipes to come out till the exhaust manifold is on. But it fits really nice, so im quite pleased with it.

Nothing much to report today guys. Ive checked all the camshaft turnover torques and endfloats and done the tappet clearances. Now i need to order some new buckets to get the required spec.
So while thats been going on ive been sorting parts to go to the powdercoaters. Think im going to try and stick with the wrinkle red manifold for an OEM look and go for gloss black/bright silver for everything else. Cam covers will be piano black i think. |
Guys,
Wondering if any of you have any sti 8 graded tappet buckets you would be willing to sell me or swap what i have? Due to new valves i require new shims, but there is nothing wrong with and no wear on the ones i have. I require the following sizes: 450 457 466 467 470 471 472 474 481 (x2) 483 484 These are what i have to trade if need be: 491 (x2) 492 494 496 (x2) 501 502 503 505 509 (x2) Thanks Frayz |
You and the Essex boys have an invite to Bruntingthorpe next year Frayz, looking forward to seeing your car, your doing a great job mate, keep the OEM look where you can.

GT30r .82 all in a type r shell. It wont be as insane as yours but it will be good :thumb: |

Wanted to use the machining as a last resort to be honest mate.
I wanted to try a source as many as I could beforehand. Si2000, that will be balistic in a type R shell mate. Best of luck with your build, are you building it yourself too? |
