You went to brw? Thanks mate, hopefully will be when I've finished all the bits and bobs.
Then we can have a cadwell day, got a few lined up already :D

Fonzey 30 June 2015 08:49 PM

Yes mate, MOT time for mine so was at BRW.

I'm on a trackday fasting at the moment unfortunately as I've got a wedding to pay for! Should be back at it by Sept/Oct tho ;)

Slight update-
Well engine out

Attachment 45935
Attachment 45936

Stripped the heads off the block and found out their fecked (was going to use the heads) seems like when it blew, shrapnel got in to heads and slightly damaged them

So now, plan is to get some avcs heads and go that route instead now, I'm going to collect some v7 jdm avcs tonight or tomorrow as the alternative choice :).
Will update as and when

Well as you know above, I needed some heads fast, I wanted to go avcs but wanted to save on costs of my current ones were ok, but that didn't happen so I sourced these.
V7 sti jdm avcs big port better cams.

I also was aiming to keep my downpipe as I was led to belive it was 3" but that was wrong too

Attachment 45853

Tapered down to 2.5 or 2" by the looks of it, I have a 3" milltek back box to go on, so was going to get a 3" center pipe made to fit, but then had to source a proper 3" to 3" downpipe.
So I found this H&S near new condition

Obviously the costs have spiralled as usual, but it's for the better and I want to do it right first time.
Had to get a few sensors etc and a few bits n bobs for block, new rocker caskets as changed heads,
Also for safety and flow got a new 11mm oil pump with valve mod to stop it from sticking which is usual cause on bearing failure

Wideband loom from Tim at jti (what a pleasant guy to deal with) and also avcs loom on way, newage crank trigger G11 on way, loads of bits n bobs needed at last minute lol and there's me thinking I bought everything prior.

AS Performance 09 July 2015 04:05 PM

the oil pump is a myth.......the jammed / sticking PRV does occur very occassionally but is normally caused by debris rather than initial cause

Thanks. I know of one failing just recently on rollers, so better safe than sorry was my initial thought of spending on one :thumb:

AS Performance 10 July 2015 04:11 PM

be careful which variety you buy as some are not value for money IMO - carry various options in stock along with most engine components

ditchmyster 10 July 2015 04:20 PM

Think I can see some cracks around a couple of the plug holes on those heads buddy. :(

Not as bad as some I seen, cracked all the way to valve seat, them ones are mint considering, you will not find avcs heads without cracks, if you do then that's very rare and lucky as most avcs have cracks, some worse than other.
But them above, you will not find better! On a used set. I give you the challenge to find if so.

Tim is slowly assembling the block together along with some carefull cleaning taking place, decoked the crowns as they were pretty dirty (thanks Tim ;) )
Pics below show RCM 11mm modified oil pump which cost me half an arm :(, new oil modene again cost other side of my arm and water pump all plumbed in for now.

Well had a bit of time to pop over to tims yesterday and fitted new water pipes to turbo, fitted a few sensors etc to block and put inlet on ready now for billet rails to run parallel.
I've gone for the RAWerehouse rails as they have good reviews for a fraction of price compared to others.

Attachment 43451
Attachment 43452

Also got some bride rails for my coberau seats as modding stock rails makes seats sit too high apparently so decided to buy proper rails instead.

Attachment 43453

I also decided to get a 6 speed dccd box too, I've sourced a widetrack blob box but can't collect for a couple of weeks yet due to seller can't get to it.
It's had a rebuild with Carbon syncros.

Good stuff Corky! If your gonna be running some power the 6speed will be your favourite mod

KAS35RSTI 06 September 2015 10:07 AM

You may as well upgrade the shifter bushes as the box is out to something like Perrin or Kartboy

or you could sort the job totally with a complete custom kit from ourselves :thumb:
(to my knowledge no-one else supplies the full set??)

What's the 'compete custom kit'?
I'm ordering beatrush ones..

AS Performance 08 September 2015 10:11 AM

to my knowledge no one supplies uprated UJ bushes (which generally are the ones that actually wear) and we have found that it is this that makes the biggest difference to the shift quality for our competition/trackday customers...........

As said, what is the complete kit? UJ bushes? Would be better if you just posted a picture of what you supply and price.

AS Performance 09 September 2015 03:45 PM

our 6spd basic "kit" includes both the custom UJ bushes and the lower steady bush at £65inc./posted - we alkso stock rear steady bushes and an extensive range of other components......
