nice to see you back mate :thumb:

frayz 28 October 2009 11:35 PM

Well i have a tiny hicup regarding pistons, but more about that later. Its being addressed.
Also just trying to sort out fittings and plumbing for the fuel oil and breather systems. Its all crazy money, but needs doing. I hope to make some sort of progress soon so i at least have something to show you lot.
Ive done sod all on it, since ive been flat out with other stuff all year. (car accident means i cant fly at the moment, and no more comps for this year) So im getting on with the car where possible. :)

Fai17 29 October 2009 08:26 AM

frayz 31 October 2009 03:48 PM

frayz 31 October 2009 04:37 PM

Was just for mocking up mate.

Cheers Si

Did a bit more today.

She started off looking like this.

Attachment 51295

And not to much later looked like this

Attachment 51296

As you can see the bores are in beautiful unmarked condition. This is just cyl 2 but the remaining 3 are in identical condition.

Attachment 51297

The block/rods/pistons etc is now for sale :)

dazdavies 01 November 2009 10:06 PM

Looks like she's been running rich.

frayz 01 November 2009 10:13 PM

The pistons arnt as dark as the pic shows to be honest Daz. I took the pic in low light so makes them appear even darker.
All in good condition for a 35K motor.

dazdavies 01 November 2009 10:23 PM

Bores look in very good nick, should fetch some decent money for that short motor.

frayz 01 November 2009 10:34 PM

Ive put it up for £500 mate. Shouldnt hang around.

Least it willgo towards somemore parts lol :)

wrighty338 02 November 2009 12:25 AM

nice progress frayz, looking forward to see what happens in here :)

frayz 02 November 2009 11:43 AM

great minds and all that :lol1:

Fai17 02 November 2009 02:22 PM

I would go for 2.5 AVCS heads to go with your 2.5 short block.

frayz 02 November 2009 05:09 PM

Im trying to source some Fai :)

trails 02 November 2009 05:51 PM

The MY05 2.0 heads have larger inlet valves then previous versions, not sure about the 2.5's though :)

Silver Scooby Sport 05 November 2009 07:38 PM

Well I have just had a sit down and scrolled through this earlier thead https://www.scoobynet.com/members-ga...on-v7-sti.html and I have to say a lot of that I had completely forgotten about :o spot on I say !

frayz 05 November 2009 07:48 PM

Lol, that was way back mate.

Think ive sourced a set of 2.5 heads with just 8k miles on :D

My 2ltr avcs heads will be up for grabs soon :)

KJD Mk1 08 November 2009 06:44 PM

Great to see that the project is back on track after taking some "time out".
Going to be some car when completed and IMO up there with the best.

Happy spanners Frayz :thumb:

frayz 08 November 2009 07:40 PM

Cheers Kev.

Just got to sort out what im going to do heads wise. Tracking down some 2.5 ones that will work is a pain, and finding some EJ207s the same as what i have is proving just as difficult.

I can find heads in the US but the cams sensors are different along with the pickups. This would require a possible custom loom or somehow adapting my cams and sensors to fit.

Its a royal, royal pain in the ass.

olliecampbell 19 November 2009 01:33 PM

Frayz has been busy again i see:

BBC NEWS | UK | England | Sussex | Two kite surfers jump over pier

Been taking to water now too I see

frayz 19 November 2009 01:54 PM

Lol, i competed with Lewis Crathern mate. Nice guy.

Although i fly in land, hes a water guy :)

I can understand your pain....it's no easy route or solution apart from modding your own heads.

Good luck mate:thumb:
