Ditchmyster, there is not a chance your 270bhp blob was all over an E46 M3 being driven properly. And you pulled away from him at 155mph ??? Really ??
Your classic at 320bhp is a different story, that car would beat an M3.

Hey all i can do is tell you what happened, you can believe it or not makes no difference to me.

It was mapped by richard bulmer when he was at tsl and they told me it was one of the best they had seen, i never stuck it on the rollers and it was a cyprus import.

And it went off the clock regularly :thumb:

ive had a go with an m3 in my 05 blob sti running 440/400, the look on his face was priceless when he realised he couldnt get me off his boot and a cheaky smile and wave as i pulled away noticeably quicker lol

More fun racing an E60 M5 :D

Can't say I've come up against one of those, have shown a new shape V8 M3 my rear lights before though. Don't think the fellas fancy blonde girlfriend was very impressed. Lol.

Brun 03 October 2011 08:45 PM

also an E46 M3 wde-limited from 155mph will go onto 190mph.
No way could an M3 could hit a true 190 when the current 500bhp GT3 RS can only crack 193 :cuckoo:

andythejock01wrx 03 October 2011 08:51 PM

Have heard some people on here in the past saying that a larger cc engine will be better top end that a smaller turbo'd engine even if the bhp is about the same. Not sure what the physics is behind this though, if it's true.

Aerodynamics would be the biggest factor then power

pretty certain the euro spec E46 M3 (more power then the US version) can crack 306 or 308 kmh derestricted matey , sure i saw it somewhere

an m3 can hit 190 on its clock ive seen it twice you say it may not be a true 190 but it will be as true as a scoobs clocks and theres not many scoobs that will be up there doing the untrue 190 with it

I'm sorry but that is bullsh!t,i've been in a derestricted M3 and it literally struggled to just clocked 180 and just would not go any more[maybe when it was new with a tailwind]

Video shows limiter comes in at an indicated 169mph, so 190mph clock speed would equal about 174mph

Bet it cant do that in the twisties tho, lol.

Speedo inaccuracy at its best :D
You would need a GPS reading really and thats about 1-2 secs out

Tony:)

I don't care what the clock says - an M3 will not do 190 which is all i'm saying.
What have Scoobs got to do with this?

dnc 04 October 2011 11:33 PM

Good thread guys, not much willy waving.

De-limited e46 will do 174 mph actual.

I had a 340/330 blob STi (only a UK ;)) then went to an e46. Nothing in it I'd say - STi starts better, M3 will claw it back.

Have to laugh at some of the comments on here, though good to see the more informed SN regulars putting them right :thumb:

Respect to both I say :luxhello:

id agree with that so that would be around 190 on the clock

is this not a thread about scooby vs m3? or have i missed something? i was saying that i have been in 2 different m3s both hit 190 on the clock or very close to so deduct upto 10% for actual speed,my scoob will go off the clock saying around 170 but ive no doubt im actually doing less than 160,if i had more time and could be botherd i would record it for you to see

Brun 05 October 2011 07:28 PM

Regardless of what the thread is about (don't you know threads round here never stay on track ;) ) my comment was aimed specifically at the incorrct claim that an M3 could crack 190.
I don't care for videos of clocks which are telling me something i already know. I could tweak the clock in my Fab so i could video it doing 200mph - means nothing.

snake1906 05 October 2011 08:09 PM

i didnt say it would do an actual 190mph i said 190mph on the clock, which by satnav/road angel ect true speed would be more like 170mph+

Brun 05 October 2011 11:21 PM

We appear to be arguing over two different points in that case then.
To summerise, an M3 will not do 190 but may show 190 on it's clock :thumb:

KAS35RSTI 06 October 2011 06:52 AM

I've raced numerous amounts of M3's with all the scoobs I've had in the past. A 330hp classic will not blow a M3 away, it will just about keep up side by side until the M3 shows the top end power off. 0-100 wise a scoob would only take the lead if you launch the thing hard!

Recently i raped a M3 in my newage doing a 30-130 rolling start & also a LP550-2. It was doing well until a boost pipe came off :brickwall

pms agreed m8 :lol1: :thumb:

MarkC 06 October 2011 08:12 PM

My classic was side by side with a m3 up until 180kms after that the m3 pulled away.

The M boys will be having a right laugh at this thread.:lol1:
