nice work Omar!

totally agree on the cam pulleys.. mapped some that are fine without but the CDF ones are not silly money and been very good on my own car, and on Steve SMGs drag car at 900+ bhp.

True lock FTW, have seen the results of failed cheap pulleys first hand and it wasn't pretty.

Got some work done on the Inlet Manifold...

Sent it off to Carl Davey who supplied and welded a wedge for the throttle body, this will allow the pipe work to sit straight and clear the bonnet, there was a slight lip on the inside edge so I decided to port and polish it out....

http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...DSCF0061-1.jpg

Also ported the other half where the manifold meets the head to match the porting on the inlet side of the cylinder head

All cleaned up and masked up ready for some paint..

Talking of inlets, I unpacked these to test fit :-

http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...R/DSCF0067.jpg

They have come with all the necessary brackets and fittings, the only initial fitment issue I can see is that the inlet maniold will need to be drilled out by approx 3mm where the rail pushes in to injector port on the manifold.

Its been a a while since I last updated but got sidetracked on a few other cars...
Heres a pic of the engine bay before the engine was dropped in, resprayed in Audi Ibis white, the battery tray has been chiseled away and the nearside inner wing smoothed off as the battery and washer tank will sit in the boot, I've also dropped in the 6 speed transmission setup with R180 diff

Also Test fitted the front brakes to insure caliper clearance

That block looks really clean outside was it a clean block to start with ? that big washing machine can't be that good or has it had a little spray up :)

Nice build by the way

786omar 13 March 2011 05:10 PM

It went through various cleansing processes when lateral performance did the rear thrust conversion and rebore, I cleaned it again in a hot wash tank before assembly and yes it was finally painted in vht silver :)

Very nice, look forward to seeing the finished article. How are you routing the pipework?

Initially the plan was to cut the the front panel just under the headlamps, and flip the intercooler upside down to have the shortest possible pipe route, but after doing that I was still having issues with the bumper foglamp recess's and the bottom of the morretes fouling the pipework, I just could'nt get the clearance required without chopping the bottom part of the morrette headlamp housing and chopping off the foglamp reccess behind the bumper - so I gave up on the idea, so Im using the hybrid standard position pipework up until the pipework enters the bay, from which there on will have to fabricated by H&S due to the position of the turbo and throttle body

Was aiming for something like this, but just couldn't get it to fit!

Its the morette's!! A friend just did his using standard headlights and looks spot on. Will try tagging you into the photos on facebook :)

jayallen 07 May 2011 07:54 PM

Visually it hasnt really changed apart from a set of TD Pro Race wheels but has had a Ksport front brake upgrade, suspension upgrade with coilovers, whiteline this and that and a full cage.
The last track saw the meth map used for the first time, went bloody well :thumb:

It's too late now as the pipework fabrication has already started and I love morrettes! But I can always mess about with it in future as the front panel is already cut, I doubt an extra few inches in pipework would show noticeable lag on the road, maybe some mappers could further clarify this?

:notworthy, I thankyou !

Build looks great Omar, would have loved to have been involved again on this one, but of course understand doing a lot of the work yourself doesn't half help keep costs down.

Martyn

Jayallen, have an SC46 here screaming out your name :D
