My point was poorly made and misunderstood. I agree exactly with what you are saying about having a fast vehicle that can be driven accordingly depending on the road conditions and occupants. I just thought that lozgti's comment was not clever but my quick reply was obviously too quick!

I will make sure my posts are clearer before posting in future!

For the record (not that I wish in any way to get embroiled in a my car is better than yours debate, nor am I taking sides, as sgscooby has posted some complete "mince" in the past :) ) the phrase is "Scottish Wankers" in the same terminology as "English cnuts", Etc, Etc.

Scotch is either an Egg, or Whisky.

VXRBOY Please take note :)

I'll give you "hop", but "Scotch Tape" is a brand trade mark and therefore non qualifying:p ;) :)

Yup

Depends how much time you've got, but if you take the A82 from Glasgow and head north and west, you can't go wrong :)

If you want to take a lot in, take the A82 from Glasgow to Arrochar, pick up the A83 to Lochgilphead and then head north on the A816 to Oban.

From oban, head north on the A85 to Connel, cross the bridge and take the A828 to South Ballachulish. From there pick up the A82 again and on to Fort William and Invergarry. From Invergarry head west to the Isle of Sky (there's a bridge) or north along the west bank of Loch Ness to Inverness.

From Inverness you can do a circular tour of the far north of Scotland (the roads effectively follow the coastline) and you will be blown away by the scenery in the north west. Some cracking beaches as well. Or alternatively you can head south along the A9 eventually to Edinburgh.

That should give you stunning scenery, great places to stay, and a fair amount of interest along the way.

To give you an idea of timescale, you can do Glasgow to Wick (far north east) in an easy six hours.

HTH

Cheers

Hmmm.Posted on this thread because I was amazed about the defensive behaviour.

As I have said I have a Skoda but won't get upset about people having an uninformed pop at it.And no,I don't hang about

When the kids are in it (and it seems to be the main reason for buying it) you aren't going to be doing much more than gentle driving as opposed to smearing their faces against the window whilst cornering ?

We are all different in our choice (which is good).I just find the idea goes against the grain.

Just enjoy it! Its only my thoughts

Thanks for the laughs guys.
I havnt collected my new Imprezza STI yet, we have traded it for our VX220 Turbo, which was an absolutely awesome car, even though it is devastatingly quick - it is the way it drives thats so much fun. With starting a family both of us were concerned at getting a boring car but the Imprezza had us sold on our first test drive. We drove the Golf GTI and Focus ST too, both left us a bit flat. If we werent getting a family I would nt change the VX. I must admit that it being a Vauxhall didnt bother me - 1 - it didnt say Vauxhall any where in the car and 2 - some people thought it was a Ferrari or a Lotus (amazing eh!). Besides it was /is quicker than a Lotus !!!!
