Lost about £60K on a boat in 1991 :(
Bought it at the end of the 80's to do corporate entertainment, RYA training courses etc and it paid its way well for a year. My crystal ball totally failed to tell me of the massive market and economic collapse looming. When I sold it (cos no-one was doing corporate entertainment which is where the money is) I had to almost give it away ! (£70K). Oh well, life goes on ! Stan |
and boat prices normailly stay about the same, you don't lose too much on them.
a £200k boat is still worth about the same years on as the same typre of boat has gone up in price if you wanted new again? Phil |
94 Clio diesel - bought 4.8k wrote off, 3.2k paid out
95 Cinq Sporting - paid 6k, kept 6 years sold for £400 Mk2 Golf GTi - paid 1.7k - sold for £100 Corrado VR6 - paid 6k, sold 18 months later for 5.8k Another Mk2 Gti - paid £500, sold for £300 Volvo 440 - paid 700, kept for 2 years, scrapped for £25! Not too bad - £11k in 9 years or about £100 pcm - but could have owned some nicer cars if I'd chosen more wisely! |
I had the 3rd customer STi type UK in the country. Hated it.
Sold it 6 months later and lost 6K...£1000 per month depreciation was not much less than I was earning at the time. I am sure that if I had bought wisely back then I would probably be driving a £50 - £60K car right now. As it is I am back in a WRX SL (PPP'ed, Lowered, sat Nav, Bluetooth, Modded Brakes. Jessuz, I feel another big loss coming on..:wonder::wonder: |
