Edited to add I'm over 30 too ;) |
PS I miss out on the so called Bright Switch though! :D :D |
hi vulnax - I have a headlamp level switch - turn it and it F***s the headlights up so you can have fun in the dark trying to reallign them ! Have you tried Carol Nashe - you have a modded 94 wagon - i know of one other forum member with a well modded 94 wrx wagon paying less than £500 with them on an 8k restriction "classic type" policy (hi mark hope you don't mind if your reading - hows the roofrails?)

Guys, for what it's worth my mods are listed on the reverse of the "Statement Of Facts"
Allan |
Checked my "Statement of Facts" and there's no mention of any of my mods. :(
Phoned LV tonight to confirm my mods and they have them all listed on their system which I knew anyway but obviously wanted it confirming!!! (Strange why I don't have them on my paperwork though unlike some others that have posted  ) The guy on the phone seemed to be pretty clued up and he said that people that had existing policies would still be covered if they had a modified vehicle BUT they could NOT make any more modifications to their car otherwise LV could potentially void their policy. For new customers, they weren't permitting ANY modifications whatsoever and therefore would only insure standard cars. He also mentioned that if you left LV and insured with another company and then came back after 12 months or whatever you would be treated as a new customer and thus,if you have a modified car, they wouldn't insure it!! :( |
Renewed with them no mention of this!!!!!!!!!!
Cheers Colin |
Any chance that somebody about to renew with L.V could tell them about this site/thread and ask them to come on here and comment? Seems like everyone, including L.V. has a different story to tell, and until we know for sure what their expectations are, potentially everyone on this thread with modded Subarus are at risk of not being paid out, should the subject of a claim arise. If no-one manages to do this in the next couple of days, I'll ask them.
|
Just to add - rang LV yesterday and they have indeed confirmed that all my mods are listed on their system even though they are not listed on the statement of facts. As LV (probably) record all phonecalls then there'll be one with confirming all mods are covered in their own words.

I renewed with L&V back on the 18th.
I can comment that: 1. A speeding conviction added SP50 added £16 to my premium. 2. Mods aren't covered as value of the car - EVEN PPP FITTED AT TIME OF PURCHASE!!! As I've got PPP & Prodrive brakes, If I lost the car then I'd be £3400 down. 3. PPP isn't listed as a car type, its included as engine & exhaust mods. 4. I added a few more mods to my policy without any problems. 5. My mods are listed on the back of the statement, but as groupings rather than individual components. My biggest worry is with 2. If this is the case, then I assume that loading a new car with lots of dealer or manufacturers options adds nothing to the replacement value? Nick |

Trashman Another Potential Modifying & Potential L&V Customer (if it is made clear) |

Trashman, my cynical side is telling me that L.V. are trying to find a way out of the modified Subaru market, therefore telling them that they are about to lose existing and new customers from this market sector may be exactly what they want to hear. Just a thought. Anyone recently had a claim accepted/rejected on their modded scoob?

Hi all,
To further muddy the waters: I phoned L&V yesterday to ask if they would put my mods on the policy document under the statement of facts section, just for my piece of mind, which they agreed to, although maintained that is wasn't necessary. Whilst I was on the line I asked them if their "all mods except engine CC increase" policy still stood and the representative said. All engine modifications have to go to the underwriters now; the implications for the policy depend on the BHP increase. The gravy train may have just hit the buffers! Best. |
Just tried to get a quote from L+V for my V5 STI Wagon, 38 with full NCB.
They would insure the car if standard but as I'm about to fit some mods they said that they would NOT be able to insure it, I asked them to double check and the reply was the same, any increase in BHP = same as increase in engine size ? therefore, sorry, can't do ! Suppose I'll have to pay the £117 extra that Direct Line quoted for the mods, which at £ 950 all in is'nt that far away from the £890 L+V quoted for the car un modded ! |
got insured with lv on monday MY99 with zorst and filter change not a problem and only 560 squid! (32 full no claims kent)
