LOL Planky :D

I've always said that those who couldn't get on with a 205 are those that could never drive them properly.

Just picked mine up this afternoon - '89 GTi 1.9...

Drives like handbag on crystal meth!

Don't miss my Scoob any thing like as much as I did yesterday!

:D :D :D

That Golf looks very nice, but as with all Golf's you need to lower it, add tints, and a new set of wheels.

The 205 looks superb straight out of the box. :p

Amen!

I've owned both, which one do you think died and fell apart?

I still use the Golf Gti as a park anywhere hack, I've had it for 8 yrs, done 70,000 miles in it and it just keeps working. The interior looks like new and it starts first time every time.

Much though I loved (and still love) the little Pug I could really only keep one as a second fun car. Not as a day to day driver. It was just too fragile. Hot start problems anyone?
However in terms of fun there is no contest at all the Pug wins easily.

Nacro, with 205's yuo seem to get good ones and bad ones. I also have an XS which we have run for the last 60,000 miles without a single problem.

Changed driveshafts, cambelt, etc but it has never let us down ever, and I have used it as a daily driver for the last 6 months.

My first ever GTi was the same.

Planky - bit surreal for me that one mate :D

NACRO 15 October 2003 09:05 AM

I agree totally dream, I had a 1.9 that apart from the dodgy build quality was a great, reliable car, the 1.6 I had was a bit of a dog but still great fun. That's the problem the cars are variable.

With the Golf you can be a bit more assured, even though I find them to be far less fun to drive.
