To get a newage down to 1100kg takes some serious work... have you weighed it or is that an estimate ?

birchy2010 04 November 2016 07:08 PM

Ignore. Will confirm.

Yep 1100KG from the weight bridge.
Serious work to bring it down and a lot of time too;

Nice!!

Don't take this the wrong way, coz its intended that way, it's only advice. But you need to weigh it on proper corner scales. A weigh bridge us no good for accurately weighing a car.

birchy2010 15 November 2016 08:33 AM

Thanks Daz.

No worries Joe. I'm a little confused. Won't the overall weight still be the same? I've never quite understood the corner weighing as it's distribution of weight using castle angles etc isn't it?

ScoobyDoo69 15 November 2016 09:46 AM

I wouldn't say a weigh bridge isn't that accurate.

Friend of mine has his MX5 weighed on a weigh bridge then corner weights. 5-10kg difference and a difference of half a tank of fuel so both seem about right.

Of course it is Joe? They have to be calibrated and checked regularly so the overall weight will be ccorrect...?

its basically a much more accurate way of weighing mate. the scale size is better suited to the thing it is weighing. All 4 scales add up and calculate the overall weight

Afraid not Jamie. A weigh bridge just isnt an accurate way of weighing a car.
ive had all sorts of cars on bridges and scales over the years and had a few surprises. I dont dispute that they get calibrated, but they are still not accurate enough
Anyone whos serious about losing weight and measuring it, the only way to do it is on scales. Ive heard some ludicrous claims for what some subaru's weigh, i compare them to my own that ive had on 2 separate sets of scales, then ask how it was weighed and these people always say weigh bridge.
By no means is my car lightweight, but these cars are inevitably heavier than people expect
I think a lot of people would get a shock when they put the car on scales after a weigh bridge, maybe not everyone, but i think the majority would.

just my opinion

RS_Matt 30 April 2017 02:03 PM

Aaarrrggggg, 12.4 again!!! Tyres have made zero chuffing difference

Just get wheelspin all the time, even holding the clutch in

RS_Matt 30 April 2017 02:06 PM

Though I did manage a best 0-60 foot of 1.79 to 1.75 secs and 0-60 mph down from 3.86 to 3.84 secs

dazdavies 08 May 2017 04:57 PM

Ive just seen the leaderboard. WTF did you get 770bhp from for mine?

It's 605hp at the wheels (that I've yet to verify on a UK dyno) which is around 700bhp by my reckoning, certainly nowhere near 770 you've written Matt.

Still a way to go to equal my best 60 ft on concrete. :D 1.72 :thumb:

ScoobyDoo69 08 May 2017 09:47 PM

I dipped into the 1.6s a few times at Elvington in my old STi. Just need to be a bit more careful with the clutch than a straight snap.

Townsend94 12 May 2017 02:57 PM

Can someone give me a rough estimate of what sort of time a 500bhp subaru classic would do on a 1/4mile?

dazdavies 12 May 2017 05:33 PM

Low 11's

You're failing to mention the significant amount of weight reduction that's been done to that car 😊

My GC8 that weighed 1231kgs with six speed and 20 litres of fuel needed 540bhp to get into the tens.

P20SPD 17 May 2017 01:05 PM

I seem to have been removed/renamed from the list :D

I think you missed the point (was about mikee not you lol), you could put mikey on a push bike and he'd still run a 9 :lol1::lol1::lol1::lol1::lol1:

No point missed I was merely saying that Mikeys car has had a lot of weight removed from it. Mine on the other hand needed 540bhp to get into the tens. I was just offering a real world comparison so the OP wasn't expecting 9s from 500bhp. 😊

dazdavies 17 May 2017 10:11 PM

Cool he can have a go in mine in that case. :D

RS_Matt 28 May 2017 01:48 PM

The lighter I go the more I wheelspin! Down from 12.44 to 12.42

Ffs
