Got a picture of this just arrived

The horny thing and the brackets for the alternator and the other bits have now been chemically cleaned and ready to go into the

Magic tank

Getting excited now

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...86b98db404.jpg

Another few days and I will drive over to collect them

jameswrx 20 February 2014 11:46 AM

Looks really nice as it is there, dread to think what it'll look like next ;):D

BLU 20 February 2014 11:51 AM

Looking good. The way you word your threads always make me chuckle :thumb:

lordharding 21 March 2014 01:22 AM

The next part

Got a nice picture of the first phase if it then the green goes on next
http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...e18757b9a1.jpg

Lo behold

Look what Locky has done To my horny thing

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...27eb3e7ef6.jpg

A close up of the cam belt cover in candy green
http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...5ca4ada69a.jpg

Amazing how the carbon film just fills all the nooks and crannies

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...05e7453913.jpg

Lacquered to give a lovely finish

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...1a8652fb22.jpg

My other bits have been in for over a year and no deterioration or discolour
http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...1a8652fb22.jpg

I was not happy woth the header tank and wanted it green and black
http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...f686ba9949.jpg

I wanted the car To have a green and black theme to it as part of B-SPOC we like bright colours

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...a8c6e40bf9.jpg

That's the water bottle done in a rubbery like substance which looks like soot but very durable finish and also the first in Europe to have this treatment

Locky is working on his own engine bay and both cars will be around a few shows this year

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...71e2945a23.jpg

lordharding 21 March 2014 01:38 AM

Well looking at the photos from Locky I just had to make the long drive over to collect them

Dumping the misses in Ikea to give me a bit of piece and quite and so she didn't find out the price, otherwise I would have to compensate her with even more clothes for the west wing of the wardrobe I went to meet the man himself

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...136b40e1fa.jpg

Finally getting them home I quickly unwrapped them to see what they were like

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...13a8897069.jpg

Rob wasn't happy woth the bare metal so Locky sprayed them lime grew to match the samco s also the header tank and that and the pas had black tops

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...bc7b62a4c9.jpg

The finish is amazing on the horny thing

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...bc7b62a4c9.jpg

A small bracket for the raditor is also coloured back to keep up with the black and green theme

The 3 pice cam belt looks amazing

Can't wait to have them fitted

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...857a48a1f3.jpg

Got them wrapped up and got the misses to drop them off at Stan palmers where Rob will now take over the project

Some say he can strip and engine and rebuild it quicker then I can open my wallet

Some say he is going to fit

19 lime green samco ,
2 Hellas ,
3 cdf pullies
And all these magic bits for Locky in record time

Rob is now in charge of the next part of the engine bay refit

BLU 21 March 2014 09:57 AM

Awesome stuff :thumb:

rob84 21 March 2014 09:31 PM

All in a days work John, will be looking fantastic once I reassemble it for you. ready for your next part of your major project

JonMc 21 March 2014 09:33 PM

Looks different and make for a unique engine bay:thumb:

mickywrx 21 March 2014 09:47 PM

Not keen on it personally, John.

Each to their own though mate, it's certainly different.

SwissTony 21 March 2014 11:10 PM

a lot of detail there sir :thumb:
will be good to see it all back together

trails 25 March 2014 08:06 PM

Tell me more about that rubberised finish please John...certainly going to be a unique bay :)

lordharding 26 March 2014 11:20 AM

Well the master technican Rob did a little bit to it yesterday and sent me these pictures

the red Hellas fitted
Thought about having them green but thought there was enough green allready and they matched the red strutbrace and battery terminal and a couple of red wires

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...ed92acbf23.jpg

I knew when i had a vision 18 months ago that candy green from Locky would look good with a splash of hold but I didn't know that it would look this good

Also we ordered new shiny bolts from Subaru as didn't want any old rusty one back on

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...4e667a3fd7.jpg

Lots for Rob to do next
New raditor to fit as the old one was rusty and had a 2mm scratch on it
After all the Greenwagon is 14 years old
19 samcos in lime green to fit with brackets
Alternator brackets in lime green to fit
PAS tank to fit with new brackets
Header tank in B-SPOC colours to fit
The big horny thing to for
And of course the water bottle
Loads to do for Rob

lordharding 26 March 2014 01:06 PM

Manifold assembled with all the bits attached
You just don't realise untill you study the photo how much work is involved in it

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...7ad6bdb70d.jpg

It just gets better
... Sitting at home waiting for the next photo an update

thenewgalaxy 26 March 2014 02:53 PM

Looking good John!

Moz_Rb5 26 March 2014 03:53 PM

Dremmels ok but I personally like to use an old plain cotton t shirt as a rag And autosol and hard rubbing into the effected areas
Takes a long time but worth it
Took about 4 hours for the alternator but better then cutting the grass / hedges / helping her indoors :D

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...770574ef79.jpg

Still a few bits to do but we are getting there :D

Just out of interest how did you order the replacement bolts, is there a part number for ordering them ?

lordharding 29 March 2014 09:23 AM

Give Gary a ring at Stan palmers and he will be able to order them for you

Cheers will do

lordharding 01 April 2014 07:45 AM

Rob had a few minutes spare yesterday so connected the Hellas up

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...b102b23a0d.jpg

Then when he was waiting on the kettle to boil did a bit more finishing off and oil change /service and a few other things

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...f114cccd9c.jpg

The good news is I can collect it on Wednesday as I'm off
7 weeks of not polishing it has been hard for me
Never mind
Misses found one of the invoices
Nag nag nag
So downstairs in house has been recarpetted to keep her indoors smiling

Oops was expensive
Make sure you hide everything from a woman :D

JonMc 01 April 2014 08:16 PM

Or wear her down so much so no longer has the energy to argue or care:thumb:

SwissTony 02 April 2014 12:05 PM

Spoke to Gary at Stan Palmers and he is sorting out the bolts. he knows you well it seems :)

lordharding 07 May 2014 07:50 AM

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...012df9286e.jpg

Glad I left the big pipe black to make a nice contrast

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...c35d19b011.jpg

A few bits to tidy up with black paint

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...b5044869e2.jpg

Candy green is amazing finish close up

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...d06dcb0b2c.jpg

I spy another bracket to paint over

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...8b3a29aea4.jpg

Overall I'm pretty pleased with it a few little jobs to do but phase 2/3/4 will be starting over the next year or two and it will get really intersting

Keep on looking after your scoobies as there will never be any more like the old ones

ronjeramy 07 May 2014 01:39 PM

Looking well, John. :thumb: I'll try and catch up with you at the NBO :)
