Now we have established it's not an RA:(, can you guys tell me or advise me as to weather this special edition 555 sti version 2 has a closed deck block, as thinking of running bigger turbo/injectors ect?;)

Check the block, under the alternator where the crank sensor is, if it has the cross hatching, it's a cdb.

my first impreza was a 93 type ra it had no sideskirts, fifth injector, black mirrors, it had air con but that was an option, no electric windows ,no abs and had no fog lamps or spoiler, intercooler spray and vented rear discs and did about 120 flat out due to the gearing ,it was blood amazing to drive really raw on a country road but a pain in the arse on motorway journeys due to the gearing 85mph at around 5500rpm mucho fuel stops

Ive only read the first reply, but its bang on the money. The STI Type-RA was introduced in 1995 with a Type-RA Applied Model Number: they were converted from production vehicles. Theyre easily identified: white with a roof vent and DCCD The first STIs were retro-converted in 1994 (from WRXs and have WRX Applied Model Numbers): there isnt such a thing as a 1993 STI, no matter what foolish vendors would have you believe.
