Did you do this online or by telephone?

I was told this online, but a quick phone call and it is being installed in just over 2 weeks. :)

Standard email/text.

I was told 2 months, and it was ordered and installed in just short of 2 weeks.

Leslie 17 February 2009 11:38 AM

Thanks both for that. I was a bit disappointed. I will give them a ring then.

Les :)

I ordered online, never talked to anyone in Sky until last Friday morning when the engineer called me to say he'd be there between 11am and 2pm.

He was there at 11:10 and was gone by 11:30.

Satellite - News - Fault hits 90,000 Sky+ HD boxes - Digital Spy

could that be the reason of the delay ?

Thought the Pace boxes were the better ones to get

urban 17 February 2009 04:03 PM

Possibly.

Glad my newly installed box is a Samsung unit :D

Explains a couple of things though.

The installers that Sky use locally in N.Ireland i'm told have around 70 engineers and they're doing a minimum of 5 each per day.
Thats one hell of a lot of Sky boxes and thats N.Ireland alone.

Well I just rang and ordered Sky HD and they are supposed to be coming to install this Sunday 22nd Feb between 12 and 5pm. :thumb:

I was going to go with the whole package telephone and broadband but when I rang AOL for a MAC code they offered me unlimited up to 8Mbps broadband and unlimited landline calls for £6.99/month.

I've been paying 19.99/month for unlimited 2Mbps broadband. I know :cuckoo:

Just wanted to add to this thread. If you go through Quidco and order Sky HD online you get £100 Cashback. That pays for the box and your first month.

ScoobyDriverWannabe 18 February 2009 11:46 AM

:( wish i knew that earlier

STi wanna Subaru 18 February 2009 12:05 PM

It just occurred to me to check now. Sorry.

I've been given a friends and family code. £50 for the HD box, free install so same as online deal but you get the full sky tv package for £25 a month for the first year.

The quidco offer is for new customers only.

Cashback will not be paid on any purchases when a voucher code is used.

* This is for NEW customer sales bought online only. This offer is not available direct through Sky or through the call centers or retailers. Sky will be unable to assist you with any queries relating to your Quidco cashback.
Dave.

I wish some people would get their facts right before posting stuff like this, ive just ordered Sky HD through Quidco as i remembered this thread in the back of my mind that someone said you get £100 cashback through Quidco. I only ordered it as i thought great you get £100 back which will pay for the box and install.

Ive just read further down that you apparently don`t, wonderful.

STi wanna Subaru 19 February 2009 11:23 AM

There's a lesson for you then in learning to read the quidco site ;)

I'm sure you can cancel should you wish but I know you're just a wind up merchant anyway so this is all irrelevant

People expect a person that is posting what you did has read the Quidco site before posting what you did, why would anyone need to read the Quidco site when we have someone on this thread telling us that you get £100 caschback if you order through Quidco ?

The way you typed your post was as if you had already completed the Sky HD deal through Quidco and got £100 cashback.

And no it aint a wind up, here is what i recieved from sky not long ago.

Hey you don't think Raul is a legend. This just backs up what I already knew. you don't take much notice of what's in front of you. Enjoy your Sky HD. Still a good deal.

Neanderthal 20 February 2009 11:14 AM

My dad's just signed up
Has anyone signed up online only to get an email saying they expect to be able to install the HD in 'around 3 months'? Does it really take this long?!
He's tried signing up to their online service but it says he can't access his bills as he needs to be the primary account holder (which he is). There's a link to change it using the viewing card number but I've tried doing this for him just in case he was doing it wrong but no, it just keeps returning to the same screen. Less than useless Sky are. If I could get cable (like he can!) I'd swap like a shot.

MMT WRX 20 February 2009 12:04 PM

I ordered Sky HD on Tuesday 17th Feb at 4 pm by phone, yesterday I recieved a letter from Sky with the viewing card and this morning I have recieved an email reminding me that they are coming on Sunday 22nd Feb between 12 and 5 pm to install and to make sure somebody is in.

Thats will be 5 days if it all goes to plan. :luxhello: :thumb:

Read the thread but 3 months is a standard email. 2 weeks is the average.

Following on from my email yesterday, this is the email i recieved this morning.

You can complete your order in around 3 months

i got the 3 month email last week

:( still haven't heard anything new

Leslie 20 February 2009 01:16 PM

Exactly the same here!

Les

Matteeboy 20 February 2009 02:59 PM

An an "insider" I know the real reason for the recall - it's actually to update the firmware and future proof it - some boxes didn't have this and so won't be able to cope with future products.
Neandethal - what sort of house does your Dad live in? Sounds like they might need to dual feed it (needed for HD and other Sky stuff) which can take a while.

Neanderthal 20 February 2009 03:17 PM

He's already got Sky+ so should only be a case of replacing the box?
Whether they've just been inundated with orders, he's in Northampton.

Matteeboy 20 February 2009 03:32 PM

If he's already got Sky+ then he should only need a new box. Think they now call it Sky+HD.

Neanderthal 20 February 2009 03:36 PM

3 months to supply a box, £30 to install it is a bit of a pee take if you ask me. Still it's my dad's money if he wants to throw it away rather than leave it to me that's his choice ;)

ScoobyDriverWannabe 09 March 2009 02:17 PM

Finally have a date \o/

Scheduled for installation on Thursday

IWatkins 09 March 2009 05:25 PM

And here too. Got 3 months initially, but actually turns out to be three weeks in all.

ianc61 09 March 2009 06:40 PM

I ordered mine on 21/02/09, got the 3 month email initially now I am getting a message saying 2-4 weeks, I am keeping my fingers crossed I get a date soon.

Leslie 10 March 2009 12:40 PM

My box was installed last Sunday 3 weeks after pre-registration. All done very well and I am extremely pleased with the results.

Les

MMT WRX 10 March 2009 05:01 PM

Yep, I am well pleased too.
Mine was installed as planned on the 22nd Feb, 5 days after ordering. :thumb:
