Went down to TD for a quick chat today, ended up staying there all day! :lol1:
Ended up getting a new lightened flywheel fitted, I knew if i stayed down there long enough id find something to buy! :brickwall
Took less than an hour and a half to fit with a few helpers, and im well impressed with it, clutch feels so much lighter and it pulls so quickly now.

Cheers again Mark

P.S dont tell my missus, she'll kill me :norty:

I,ve never heard of Mark or TD until now and i live in Coventry, sounds very impressive by the comments he,s getting, well done......:thumb:

Does he map then??:wonder:

averyp2 22 February 2009 12:00 AM

Yer he maps, does most of the ecu's i can think of, apexi,sim-tec,motec,hydra etc etc. Also supplies loads of performance parts, does services, engine rebuilds the lot really.

He's not long set up his new unit in Warwick (was in Cov previously).

Very friendly and approachable, always happy to answer queries over the phone or if you just pop in.

Highly recommend him to anyone

I got my car back from Mark on Saturday. Fantastic job and really good value for money! I had a complete service, cambelt, clutch, flywheel :D Only bad thing was the AA damaging 2 of my wheels delivering the car to Mark, which I'll try and fix via compensation with the AA. But overall I'm well happy, and definately will be using Mark from now on for all my cars needs :D

Saw your car down there mate, looked stunning.
Shame about the AA damaging your wheels, hopefully you'll get some compo for a refurb.

I think we should do a rolling road day via Mark in the not too distant future. He could arrange it with his contact and advise on people's results as in ways to up the power and get some work from it :)

I reckon I could get about 10 cars (scoobs and others) ;););)

Fat Boi Mike 24 February 2009 03:01 PM

I would def be down for that, and would probably be able to bring another 4 or 5 cars with me.. good idea young Mickle!

Sounds a good idea, i'll run in by Mark and see what he thinks.
Trouble is I know he has some big jobs on at the mo, but i'll see what he thinks

Unfortunately he doesnt have a rolling road, I think 'Mickle' was referring to a group of us going to somewhere (that Mark may know) local and have Mark there to comment on results if possible?? That was what I understood him to mean? :freak3:

If so maybe Powerstation or Weston Performance etc?
Depends on price and numbers i suppose

Paul

Mickle 03 March 2009 06:56 PM

Yey, he was going to take my car to a rolling road on my behalf, it's not his, someone he knows :) He did say the name of the place and knows the chap there, but it's escaped me

Nice to see you found your way over here Downes

Well we got the weekend out the way so we can start with getting on with the teething problems.

With the car being built in five weeks outside of our normal working hours we knew for the word go we would be up against it to get a competitive car together.

Three days before the event we still had so much to be done just to get the car running ready for its first test run. We had problems with the harness which I worked though the night on Thursday to find the faults and get working as it should and install the safety systems. Still the engine had not been run in or fully tested for leaks etc. Thursday evening came faster than I every thought it ever could. The car was loaded onto the trailer with me still inside trying to get a base map built for the new engine. With the car not ever covering a single mile it was on its way to Oulton Park.

7.00am, Friday we was back at Oulton Park with only having had 7 hours sleep in the past 3 days. The guys got the car ready to go out for its first whilst I finished off the setting up of the engine.

9.30 am, after passing noise test we made our way out to the track only to be stopped by the marshals asking me to remove the laptop from the car. I explained to them we need to get this ready for tomorrow blah blah blah. With being them not very helpfull I returned to the pits so Lauras could go out and do his sighting lap and to start the running in of the engine.

10.45 am, The engine had covered as many miles as we had time for really so back in to the pits, oil changed everything checked all ok so far. With me having to data log and then change the map as needed it was going to be a long day but things could only get worse.

11.15 am, vehicle left the pit lane ready to start doing some fast laps but with Lauras returning to the pits only moments later with a smashed screen and damaged roof and bonnet. At this point I thought that we might not run in time attack due to the damage to the car for the bonnet opening at about 50mph. I was not going to be stopped by this so I set about getting a screen ready to fitted 30 miles away whilst the car was loaded back onto the trailer. Lauras was sent out onto the track in a std bugeye just so he could learn the circuit and wait for me to return with a new screen in the car.

3.45 pm, The car was back off the trailer and ready to go out again. Great now we only had just over an hour to get the mapping sorted and suspension set to the drivers likings.

5.00 pm, The Car was as close as we could get it, Lauras was happy with the settings that the guys had worked hard to put into car all day.

8.00pm, We left Oulton park knowing we needed luck and lots of it for Saturday as we was way down on power and Lauras had only done two and a half hours in the car and most of that was done running the engine in. We also still had a problem with 5th gear but i would look into this in the morning as everyone was dead on there feet and all need to get some energy ready for race day.

Race day

7.00 am, Back to Oulton park to fix the 5th gear problem and finish of the last little bits that needed to be done.

9.10 am, We now have a working 5th gear and it was out agian to do some fast laps for the first time. We were not happy with the times but the car was there and it was going around so not all that bad.

The day went on with only water temps holding us back so we was loosing a lot of time in the sessions by having to back of the pace just to let the engine temps fall.

2.30pm, The Car returned to pits from the superbattle with a blowing wastegate take of pipe. Once again I was not giving up so I set about removing the headers as the guys went out find a welder! Olly Clark had one on his truck so he brought that down for us and I got on with the repairs.

3.30pm, Once again the car was ready to go back out but this time it was the final so if we had anymore bad luck then we would not have time to fix it.

The Car stayed out for the final but we could not improve upon the times but all in all it was a new car, the driver was new to the car, engine was not putting out the power it should have been and we had a hand full of problems in the past 48 hours. So really we was pleased just to finish the first event as a few teams didn’t.

Best lap was a 139.390sec

Thanks to all who helped get the car out there for the weekend and we will see you all at knockhill on the 17th.

Mark
