I confess I have been in a clients house that was like an Aladdins cave.Filled floor to ceiling with what appeared to be everything you could ever buy from Price drop TV or QVC.

The centrepiece of this display was the Alter/TV at which they must have worshipped

(Confess I drunkenly bought loads of model cars from QVC once:o )

NACRO 18 November 2008 11:44 AM

The larger the TV is then the smaller the room it is watched in.

This is the inverse law of chav screen ownership.

WRX_Dazza 18 November 2008 11:54 AM

only on here can an argument start about TV sizes :)

psml.....

i prefer the great outdoors too (only coz i cant afford a big telly!!!) :(

not that there;s anything worth watching these days, exept.....

Im a "z" list celebrity, get me out of here, on ice-factor, idol, trash!!!

And your bank owns a very large chunk of your house and probably car too - easy to forget that "mortgage" does not mean "own" unless you don't have one in which case you are sorted. Which we'll be when we buy a house outright :luxhello:

So what do you actually own? The downstairs bog and the garage?!
In fact many don't own ANY of their mortgaged up house. :lol1:

Maybe not... yet, but one day "us" people will own all of the property, whereas your hard earned is going in the pocket of some other bloke, not paying off an extended loan, which I believe you will agree.:p

Brun 18 November 2008 12:17 PM

Oh deary deary me - so where is the interest you pay on your mortgage going? Into a nice charity!? And many are on interest only - I'd rather "throw away" money to someone I know and get on with than a faceless and near criminal bank. And on a depreciating asset. And have to pay for everything that goes wrong (e.g. boiler). And have to pay about £10k if I want to move. And not be able to move if I need to. And and and...

I'll stick to the savings that me and wife "own" properly thanks :thumb:

don't even get me started on samarai sword collections, rooms themed to native americans, primark based collections of african art or turning yr semi into a black and white faux beamed mock tudor residence.

oh and homages to John Wayne, the "king" thankyaverrymuch or wizards, warlocks-healing crystals and chuffing dream catchers.

Matteboy- respect to you Dude :notworthy

We speak the truth.

I was only thinking about you yesterday Matt, wondering what you were up to.

Seems your the same obnoxious surf dude you were this time last year.

Lighten up  It's the internet FFS.
Some here are on the same wavelength - most get all pi55y as soon as they are "threatened" by someone who thinks a bit differently.

Should I be flattered or scared that you were thinking of me?

Maybe move nearer the sea - it really chills you out you know :thumb:

PhilMcAvitie 18 November 2008 01:49 PM

I've always considered a 42" as a portable, hence not needing a TV Licence - crap, I'd better get down to the Post Office sharpish!

Ah, yes on big houses maybe, but I have a little 3 bedroomed terrace abode, not some £500k cornish mansion with 9 X5's outside:)

Luckily in my area house prices haven't tumbled so much, maybe £10k in the last 18 months, which still leaves me comfortably in positive equity. So I'll stay just where I am and keep paying my smallish mortgage, where the interest (I dare say it) is less than you pay for your rent every month.

Matteeboy 18 November 2008 02:04 PM

Well done.

And if you lose your job (seem to remember you having some issues with work - don't mean that in a nasty/bitchy way btw)?

Can't pay monthly payments, can't sell house, house gets repossessed, you get utterly shat on from a great height by the bank, you lose stacks of money.

Our business goes to the wall (shouldn't do but you never can tell) - we get chucked out, move somewhere cheaper, live on savings for a bit until we find our feet again.

Bit exaggerated but I'm 2worst casing" it just for you to see.

And estate agents window prices (which house prices are usually based on) are VERY different to prices actually being agreed - and that's only the ones that are selling. Which isn't many.

Oh and I only have 3 X5s...:lol1: :lol1:

.

This is reminding me of The Apprentice where they had to find an item to sell on a shopping channel.

Best seller was the coats with wolves on it or big dogs.I thought the indoor trampoline was going to be the hit.

Sorry,going OT now:D

Yep you, and nobody else is paying me to sit on my arse and argue the toss about feeble things. Kinda makes you feel wanted don't it :D

By the way it's Andy, we're all friends in here ;)

Matteeboy 18 November 2008 06:15 PM

Cool - thanks Andy.
Fortunately I pay myself and so allow myself plenty of internerd time without any threats of sacking myself...!

Nat 18 November 2008 06:57 PM

Chavs do have an attraction to big tellys. And crap dogs and dodgy jewellery.

Doesn't mean that well off people don't have big tellys to though, why would you think that?

How could you watch a 25" telly if say you're lounge is 50 feet long?

I've got a 50" telly and watching it from 30 foot away makes it seem pretty small.
