We had a massive house spider crawl out from the fireplace in our old house, no word of a lie its leg span was the same size as Bob's hand. I've got some pics of it squashed somewhere but I can't post them as I can't bear to look at them :D

Obviously I screamed like a girl and ran out of the room and up the stairs when I saw it. It was too big for a pint glass and too big even for my spider catching device

Did you bow to it and call it... 'King spider:D

Scoobychick 19 September 2008 10:47 AM

Words to that effect, yes :D

I spayed one with Raid the other night. It literally JUMPED a foot off the wall and ran across the room.............towards me:eek:

Mind, it then met my boot and lost.:D

Huntsman look bloody scary, but the reality is:

YouTube - Huntsman Spider

They're actually one of the last species of spiders you should be worried about!

Oh God, I hate them *shiver*.

What I want to know is.........where do all the stripey feckers that are strung across every bleedin' plant in the garden go to for the rest of the year? :wonder:

Oooh............conkers! I've got them all over the house to keep them away, but I need new ones now and there aren't any on our local trees this year. :(

PeteBrant 19 September 2008 02:07 PM

As promised.

A bit of wee almost came out whilst taking this photo (spot light added for dramatic effect)

I'm terrified of them - worse than any woman I tell ya! All the lads at work know about it too - the other week, some tw@t found one in the workshop, dead. It was fecking huge, fat n all. this total d1ck slap put it under a piece of paper on my keyboard, and when I came in to the office I moved the paper out of the way!! I jumped so fcuking much that I put my bleeding back out and trapped a nerve!!

So this little darling for sale at CostCo would not be a good idea for some folks?

Scoobychick 19 September 2008 03:35 PM

Even Kieran's pic makes me go a bit funny

How do conkers keep them away? I just happen to have a massive horse chestnut about 20 ft from my back door that is brimming with the things :thumb:

BTW, that spider in the blind that I mentioned earlier? I forgot to tell Bob about it and now he's gone to work and it's still there :(

madras 19 September 2008 03:39 PM

Cyprus 2004 - our 8 year old find this hiding under her beach towel!

European Tarantula possibly? - whatever it was it was scary.

Or this one needs to shave its legs!

Or the little one is just about to die!

They don't like conkers. Take the outer shell off and put them in the corners of your rooms. :thumb:

Our house looks like we've got a giant rabbit living here. :lol1:

Scoobychick 19 September 2008 03:45 PM

I'll try that Kim, ta :thumb:

I know there are some horrible pics above but I've scrolled down through the thread REALLY quickly so that I didn't have to see any of them  :D

Scoobychick 19 September 2008 03:49 PM

Dammit, cocked up on the scrolling wheel and managed to pause it at Pete's pic  They're the buggers that I get in my house, blooming massive things, I hate them

oldsplice 19 September 2008 03:54 PM

I haven't dared look at any of them. :(

Like the time I saw one scuttle across the floor whilst on the PS2, sat there, just a dressing gown on, getting some air to the spuds, I paid it no attention until I felt it taking refuge under my goolies, I have never moved so fast !

Stupid things, this one insists on building a web in front of the garage door. Everyday it gets to start all over again.

Harvey was still there last night, but I think he's shed a skin cos there was a smaller skeletal one in the web too. And H has definately got bigger.

The hairy legged one in Madras's post has made it's way onto the lounge curtain as well, but he got the slipper treatment.

Those camel spiders are disgusting. If they try sending me to the desert I'll dessert (see what I did there?)

I have of these huntsman spiders every year - big feckers too and as I've got an old house, they're everywhere!! :D

Last year, whilst deeply into a round of something on my 360, I noticed a movement from the corner of my eye.
I turned to look at the chimney breast to see this thing about the size of my hand (you could have put a bl00dy saddle on it!!:D) walking down the wall.

I stopped. It stopped. There was a look on its face as if to say "nothing to see here, sonny. Go back to your racing".....
I swear it gave me the finger, and continued walking down the wall.

Wide-eyed, I just un-paused the game and went back to it, not thinking about it!!

Think it went under my fire and back into the chimney breast, as I never saw it again :D

Dan
