I understand what your saying Lozgti but someone always harps on about how bad they felt mincing around certain places mentioned, well don't go,and that's what I can't comprehend.
I'm at odds with a certain believer at work who preaches all about the conspiracy theories(anti-west) that suit his needs,do a bit of homework give him a valid argument and he picks on someone else.
If my( and his actually) country is that bad f**k-off,oh yeah what about the benefits:mad:
Perhaps it's that thats made me sceptical, always searching for b0th views, not settling for what is regarded as the "truth".

I think what you are trying to say is that we can learn nothing from history and you also criticised the fact that I visited the scenes of such awful human treatment in the past. Everyone should have the chance to see what happened so that the lessons are driven home. That is why I applaud the Germans for maintaining those sites.

Yours is a very short sighted attitude and if you just say see what is happening now then it is more likely that the end results will arrive too soon for us to do anything about it. It is happening as I speak by the way! I shudder for the future if what is planned for us all actually happens. How do you feel about Guantanamo by the way?

Forewarned is forearmed, people with evil intent are very good at hiding their real plans, and a look back at history is the best way to anticipate future events, good or bad.

it was said in 1947 that the best way to achieve a federated Europe was to do it bit by bit so that people don't realise it until it is too late. As in fact has been happening and will continue to do so.

I have no time for Springer's TV programmes, but what we saw in him over the holocaust was genuine enough.

Les please at least read my posts before repeating what I've already said as if I never said it.
I know these atrocities are on going I did intimate that I thought the on going issues are something we might be able to do something about rather than dwelling on the past and what we didn't do.
As for learning from history of course we can,do you not recall last year that certain people wanted an apology for our part in the slave trade....:lol1:
Try to understand that I cannot understand why anybody would want to visit places of such horror.
As for me having a short sighted attitude you are wrong I try to understand issues before commenting and I'm willing to see all sides in an argument.
I never critisized anyone personally and would not do so,I was generalising.
Now Alcudia or Auswitchz...:wonder: :wonder: :wonder:

If I took the wrong meaning from your earlier posts then I apologise. I certainly read them closely enough I thought. It did appear that you thought that remembering those past atrocities and seeing what it was like for yourself was of no value. You are of course entitled not to go and see for yourself if that is how you feel, but my major point is that knowing that such things have happened can help us to avoid them happening again by taking steps before it is too late. I also said that man's character is such that it certainly could happen should certain types achieve overall control. Such as Zimbabwe as a case in point! Guantanamo Bay is nothing to write home about!

While I have no issue with the program as it was simply a look into his very distressing family history, but all too often as soon as the treatment of the Jewish people by the Nazi's is brought up, its context within the long list of atrocities carried out in WW2 seems to be lost.
