Adverts that make obviously false claims.

That the LG ad for its new touch phone for example. It says it has a "magic" touch area...

Right, no, it's not ****ing magic, its a ****ing touch sensitive screen probabaly powered by electrical current sensor. I am willing to bet my entire lifes savings and that of my entire family that the technology behind the screen is not based on ****ing "magic".

It then goes on to say that I can control my "Calls, pictures, calendar anything I can imagine....."

Really? anything I can imagine? So with this phone I will be able to control, say, the second (sic) coming of Jesus will I. Maybe I'll just start it off easy and control roatation of the Earth and speed it up during work days...

Pete I am just LOLing at this post!!! Top stuff!!!

Myleene Class in the Marks & Spencer "Bureau daaa Shaaaange" and that smug look on her face.

Someone needs to tell these people that they are getting it wrong then. I for one will never, ever buy products or use services which have adverts that annoy the sh1te out of me

Turbo2 24 July 2008 05:31 PM

Some classic shockers from the past:

Kellogs Fruit & Fibre, you know the one with the irritating song that went; "apples, hazlenuts, sultanas,..."

Cadbury's Fruit & Nut: "everyone's a fruit and nutcase...."

What about that annoying Yellow Pages one featuring the smug face of pretend ageing "Fly Fishing" author JR Hartley? I hope he's dead.

Nowadays I can't stand anything by O2: senseless drivel. It seems that the bigger the company gets the worse the adverts are. It's as if they're so big that no-one has actually got the balls to stand up in a Marketing meeting and point out that the latest advert that cost millions of pounds is actually utter sh!te.

jasey 24 July 2008 06:00 PM

Lloyds TSB and the fooking train and the ****e tune to go with it is right up there - what's that all about then

skoobidude 24 July 2008 07:35 PM

Ads which repeat the brand several times and are on a tight budget so some **** speaks at 100 miles/hr to get all their words over in 30 seconds..

Makes me go..

FPMSL - cracking me up - what a fantastic thread - and I too had noticed that the ad's get louder - now however, I know why.......... although - it doesn't change the fact that they do get louder (whatever the reason) :lol1:

I can't stand the "picture" advert where that stu-pid woman is on the phone to PICTURE and mouthing "twenty-five" to her gormless looking tw@t of a husband. And how they tried to make it look so "normal" with "mum - where's my scooter" "in the garage :brickwall " - just wanna fecking headbut them all
As for the Safestyle ad? I've never seen it :wonder:

But what annoys me most is when the kids are watching TV in the day and then ask me "mum, why has that man got no pants on" - think it was an aftershave advert (lacoste maybe) where the naked man gets out of bed walking away from the camera - was NOT impressed with that.

Also, and I think its changed now but when pampers etc used to show babies bums - its a BAD BAD world out there :nono:

Keep up the great thread though :notworthy

Think the blonde of the DFS advert with the bob cut and grey top flashing a bit of cleavage is quite cute !

Richard

LOL....

First time I saw that ad I thought I recognised her.... pretty sure I have known her - in the biblical sense!!!

J4CKO 26 July 2008 10:22 PM

Those Bupa ones are so condescending,

"In the nice Bupa hospital, she saw the nice Bupa doctor and she had a nice cup of tea which meant the cancer ravaging her body didn't seem so bad, the bill for the cup of tea was £175 which also took her mind off it"

"Dave's dad Ken is going a going a bit mental and dribblesome these days and Dave wanted to go on holiday so they checked the batty old b4stard into a nice Bupa care home, its like nice cozy kennels for incontinent old cnuts like Ken, he played cards with the other old burdens and had a cup of tea, then waited for deaths cold grey embrace whilst Dave boned Sandra senseless in the Dominican Republic, well worth the 5 grand to put the old bugger in Kennels for the week.

CrisPDuk 26 July 2008 10:55 PM

That sad cnut in the Jeyes Parazone adverts either side of the breaks in The Bill is doing my head in more than anyone at the moment

I wish him, his parents, his wife, his kids, and anyone who's ever known him the slowest most painful death imagineable :mad:

We've had Sky+ now for three years, but MrsD still insists that we sit down to watch stuff at it's proper time, for some reason she can't get it into her head that if we set it to record and start watching it at about 20min in we can miss the ads :cuckoo:

RS Grant 27 July 2008 01:41 AM

Not so much an advert, more of a trailer... but the "Totally Callum Best" trailer on MTV gets me extremely angry because he's managed to loaf his way onto television. Pi$$es me off that due to association, I think he's bringing his dads name down with crap like that.

Cheers,
Grant

HOW MANY MORE TIMES!!!!!

the volume does not increase!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what they do is open up the bandwidth on the signal during the adverts, this removes the compression on the signal, so everything appears to be louder.

Mart

Calm down dear it's just a commercial!!!

Oh and if it gets louder then the volume has increased as it is louder and there is more of that volume stuff.

I hate any dubbed advert (great posts peteb) and refuse to buy any product that I know to use a dubbed advert (eg volkswagon)...
I hate safetyle ads and halifax ads too...

Yes
