ive had my wrx taken to 350bhp by alan jeffrey engineering done 10000miles no problems whatsoever and a cracking drive., plymouth area.:

hardsy555 09 July 2007 10:15 PM

thats great that was the place which i was thinking of taking her. and it is only 40mins drive rather that 3hours.
and they seem to be fairly well priced.

pippyrips 09 July 2007 11:00 PM

i'm sure the place in devon is good but for the sake of a 3 hour drive wouldn't you feel better knowing one of the best mappers in the business had worked on your car? besides you will love the drive home:D

P1 FEK 10 July 2007 12:15 AM

I can assure you the Alan Jeffery's engineering know they're stuff you won't be disappointed.
Last year I was also looking for someone in the southwest to remap my P1 and after several phone conversations with other companies I chose Alan Jeffery's, they seemed to be much more approachable and friendly with a genuine interest in my car and want I wanted to achieve. They're knowledge is extensive and after several phone conversations we'd drawn up a list of parts I needed which I decided to source myself to save a few pennies and they fitted for me. I never felt pushed into buying anything just well guided and they were always on the end of the phone when I needed advice, even when they were really busy.

I currently run the following spec
Ported heads
Piper cams
Blitz Front mount intercooler
Forge recirculating dump valve
K&N cone filter
Lateral Performance headers, wrapped
Decat 3" Exhaust
Walbro Fuel pump
Uprated Organic clutch
NGK PFR7B Spark plugs
IHI VF34 Turbo
Apexi Avc-r Boost Controller
EcuTek Re-map, 350bhp/320lbft
dyno20003.jpg - Image - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The car is wonderful to drive and very useable on the road, exactly how I wanted it. I could have gone for a bigger turbo and more power but I was after drivability and smooth delivery to go hand in hand with my new AP Racing 355mm 6pots and planned suspension upgrades.

reano 10 July 2007 03:58 PM

I have 355bhp on Powerstations (allegedly) conservative rollers

I had PPP but changed the following

1) Exhaust to 3" decat with sports cat miltek exhaust
2) Top mount I changed to the APS top mount
3) APS cold air feed
4) Remap

It is doing 355bhp, torque I think was c320 - 330. PS commented that it was running really well at boost c1.38bar on the vf35. Year my53 sti uk ....

You can get it if you really want but you must try .... try and try ....try and tryyyy.... you'll succeed at last ..... dum dum dum

hardsy555 10 July 2007 10:43 PM

tha song is stuck in my head now, so tell me is cold air feed similar to an induction kit or not. if not how does it work...

MartynJ 11 July 2007 07:57 AM

Yes it is the same , just placed in a different area generally the inner wing...

Mine is in the inner wing too with air cold air duct coming from the fog light blank. You can see my car if you go to the car care section title "blue sti vs elite detail" something like that.

wrx bill 11 July 2007 08:11 PM

RCM induction k&n cone filter £260ish

hardsy555 11 July 2007 11:13 PM

hardsy555 16 July 2007 05:41 PM

what is the standard size injectors cc then?

scottstiukppp 16 July 2007 08:58 PM

I asked Andy Forrest the best mods for about 400 ponys and this is his reply

Kind regards

Hi Scott

I would recommend an APS 70mm cold air induction £200
TD05-20G for 380bhp £850
Or Garrett GT hybrid for 400bhp £1250
Uprated fuel pump £85
Fuel press reg £170
GT spec headers £400
Full 3" decat approx £500
Ecutec custom remap £500

Prices plus vat, I only do the Ecu mapping and turbo building work here.

regards

Andy

hardsy555 16 July 2007 09:08 PM

sounds good but is it nessecary to uprate the fuel pump as the ppp kit already has one or does it still need more.
it is pricey at first but i pressume you would then sell your old vf35 and prodrive exhaust to re-coup a bit?

G.Mac 16 July 2007 11:19 PM

Hello there Im still running the VF35 on my 05 sti and im running 370bhp and 364lbs-ft of torque

My mods are

*Meercat 3 inch custom "Snake head" turbo back decat system
*GT spec 2 headers and up pipe
*APS inner wing induction kit linked onto Perrin turbo intake elbow
*I had the turbo wastegate ported out to help stop the boost creep that the VF35's are known for along with the exhaust housing ported
*Bosch 255L per hour pump
*10% Methanol
*Andy.F remap

Still running standard injectors and fuel pressure regulator (untill this winter when I hope to be visiting Mr F again for what seems like my yearly remap...lol)

Im tempted by a turbo change but I want to see just how close to the magic 400 I can get on the VF 35 with a power to torque ratio that I have at the moment, I dont think I will get there but I want to try!:lol1:

I have found that after 4-5 years use, even the prodrive pump is starting to drop in efficiency, hence the advice to fit a new one before further tuning.

hardsy555 17 July 2007 03:27 PM

ok thanks thats interesting.

Bob Rawle 17 July 2007 09:38 PM

I'm with Andy on the fuel pump, definately needs a swap out if going to higher levels, also found Walbro's to be wanting under some circumstances but still best value for money. I'd go MD321H for the turbo mind as that will do 400 on boost thats compatable with a std Eurospec Sti engine.

bob just the man, when you going to sort out your web site ive been trying for weeks now. bob i origanally started this thread because im getting some money in feb and wanted to know what my options are. im looking for 340-350 but i wanted to keep the vf as getting another turbo is going to bang the price up. i have the sti8 ppp, so in your proffesional opinion what could be done and what would be a realistic price to see it done there are so many different ideas some seem to have done loads yet only have 10-15 bhp more than someone who has done not to much so i really am lost.

thanks stewart.

what sort of boost are you lot running to make that much torque?? mine was mapped at powerstation, hits 1.3bar and tails off to 1.25 up top and made 334bhp and under 290lbft

ported headers
3 port solinoid
prodrive d.pipe
full 2.75" milltek
k&n panel

Something may be wrong there, as i experienced. I made 320/275.

Check the Neutral position switch. This turned out to be faulty on mine. It's a known fault too.

All the info is the thread that you need, including prices.

hardsy555 18 July 2007 05:58 PM

just been looking back at one of your earlier posts mate and if i change to a 3" exhaust does the ppp sports cat HAVE to be replace or can the other one be joined some where else because im pressuming one is 3" and the other would be 2.5" or does it need to come off to fit the bigger. what would be an average price to get back of the ppp complete exhaust and the vf35.
just weighing it up and it might well be worth what you were saying about the td05 and going to the 360-370m mk i think it would only be a few hundered quid more for that much more bhp.
