Instrumental guitar is my favourite music -all the early NGM folks who seemed to only release records on Roadrunner.
Another great player is Gary Moore - proves that hes good at any style of music, though I prefer his early solo rock stuff. |
Enuff Z Nuff will be touring with LA Guns
Mon, 7th April--London Tue 8th April, Bradford, Penningtons Wed 9th April, Day Off Thu 10th April, Roadmenders, North Hampton Fri 11th April, Rock Cafe 2000, Stourbridge Sat 12th April, MS1, Cardiff Sun 13th April, The Ferry, Glasgow Tue 15th April, Corporation, Sheffield Wed 16th April The Cavern, Liverpool |
Enuff Z'nuff - dear'o'dear. I still listen to them as well now and again. Fly high Michelle and New thing - met them years ago, and they were quite sleazy looking - nice guys though. Chip Z.nuff reminded me of Francis Dunnery (another v.g. player).

Mark Stanway is the keyboardist in Magnum. Me mate's old man is/was the drummer at one point. Come to think of it, ain't seen Mick for yonks! :) |
@andy tang
Wembley: supported by Nine Inch Nails and Skid Row cheers big sinky |
Guys I don't think anyone mentioned Faith No More
What a class album The Real Thing is, especially the track Zombie Eaters. :D Surely I'm not the only one here to rate them highly? |
The real thing was a great album, the ones before and after never quite achieved the same amount of time in my cd player though...
|
Marky-San,
Email me if you're still after a copy of FM's Indiscreet - I have it on CD, along with most of their other albums, and would happily burn you a copy (not willing to part with the original). I didn't realise so many others like the same music as I do. As someone else mentioned, there seems to be quite a few of us up here in Scotland. Some of my faves from the 80's: Def Lep -saw them a couple of weeks ago at the Barrowlands :) Journey Tesla (has anyone mentioned them yet?) G'n'R Bon Jovi House of Lords Little Angels FM Thunder Whitesnake Danger Danger Metallica Motley Crue Great White (and so on...) Also like some older stuff: Black Sabbath Thin Lizzy Free & Bad Co. UFO Rainbow ...and some newer stuff like: Nickelback Creed Foo Fighters Disturbed Hoobastank The Calling etc.... Never really got into the instrumental stuff myself, but I did love the album Yngwie did with Joe Lynn Turner on vocals! cheers, Andy |
Andy
Tesla - yes I mentioned them in my list two pages back. Loved "Mechanical Resonance", the follow ups were n't as good. You don't by any chance have the Fm live album do you? |
have to agree with Bravo on the faith no more album superb.
feck me lads i haven't listen to any of this for ages, faith no more, metallica, NIN, skid row, iron maiden, time to go hoaking me thinks. cheers big sinky |
Matt,
No sorry, don't have the FM live album. Got most of the studio ones tho'. You're right about Tesla - started well and then tailed off. Mechanical Resonance was a great debut and Great Radio Controversy was pretty good, but after that they were fairly average. They are back together now and brought out a double live album last year - RePlugged Live. Still waiting for another studio album tho' Saw them support Def Lep on the Hysteria tour in '87 at the Edinburgh Playhouse - great gig. Oops! showing my age a bit there! cheers, Andy |
you do often find that though, the dreaded 'second album' syndrome, where the band has gigged all of an album worth to death and play it and amend it till it gets to a very good state, then the pressure on and so are the time limits for a second album and it rarely hits the same heights.

Saw 'Leppard playing "in the round" at the SECC in Glasgow a number of years ago...
Was not long after Steve Clark died, and Viv Campbell had taken his place - great gig it was too :D Not really been to many other concerts though :( Bon Jovi at Wembly Stadium, supported by Thunder, Van Halen and some other band. (Another great gig) Van Halen at Wembly arena. and... erm... uhh... The Dogs D'Armour at the Queens hall in Edinburgh (very early 90's) Still have the (very) occasional axe frenzy with my beat up, painted Westone guitar in the front room... Shame after all these years I still can't play it though.. :p |
I was at that 'in the round' gig at the SECC too.
I've seen Leppard every time they have toured since 87 - probably about 6 times in all. cheers, Andy |
Andy - was that the one with Gun supporting?
When Gun were on, the stage looked a bit cluttered and naff. Then they put up that huge 'witches hat'-style black curtain, took AGES to sort the equipment out etc... loads of build up... then "Stagefright" started to play, the lasers come on - curtain shoots up to the ceiling, Leppard jump out and the whole place goes nuts! :D Ahhh remember it well... :D |
Dante & Jules now have a band called El Presidente - they played King Tuts last month
|
I saw Leppard at the odeon in brum on the pyromania tour.
Pyromania as an album is one of my all time favourites - very ahead of its time. 'Got me under fire' and Billy's gotta' gun' are my favs. Daz |
Lepards 'Hysteria' album is perfect for summer day cruising.
Never seen then unfortunately - just missed them at the Barrowlands last week - bummer! |
'You wanna step into my world...its a sociopsychotic state of bliss'......ahh, what a start. Sounds like music that is over most 70's porn films (not that I'd know - my mate told me;) )

BTTT to the No.1 position just for a few seconds.

bravo - It was indeed at tonbridge leisure centre and i saw them at a festival, can't remember which lol. Leisure centre gig was cracking!! Had been a fan of theres for ages and that tour to my memory was there last.
A band member lives in guildford and teaches at the uni/college/poly there from what ive read on some fan sites, if only his students knew lol. matt - we have VERY similar tastes in music, i have nearly everything you listed! as for 'house of lords' its a strange conincidence that its been primarily scottish posters who have picked up on them, specially seeing as i was living in Kilmarnock when i first heard them.... Kenny Mary's drumming was the nuts! Am going to go all weird now with a few more prog ones - porcupine tree, kings x, living colour, stage dolls, nightwish. Matt - beltane fire just made me laugh :)
'now you walk, you, you walk the plank' hehehehehe Best guitarist ive seen - technically i would have to say Steve vai when i saw him with DLR was out of this world and probably the best. schenker was ok.... Maiden VERY good Rothery very underrated best drummer is a close one, peart just beating Kenny Mary for me. keyboard player would be hard to call between - mark kelly or the magnum one whos name i cant remember lol bass player - geddy lee or steve harris most surprising concert goers to warrant who on the three ocassions i've seen them i've expected them to come out stinking of hair spray and make up, but credit to em they came out and rocked loud and heavy and i was SERIOUSLY impressed. Just read this about Rush which surprised me, always liked them but this did raise my eyebrows - 'THOUGH not widely recognized among rock critics with breaking any new ground, the Canadian power trio of bassist Geddy Lee, guitarist Alex Lifeson, and drummer Neil Peart has experienced tremendous success since its formation, notching twenty-three consecutive gold and platinum records, the third-longest string behind the Beatles and the Stones (and tied with KISS) in popular-music history.'
