I'm surprised Shmee has more YouTube views/facebook likes than Evo and Autocar!!!!!!

OK I concede Shmee isn't a name in the UK as such but worldwide more people know of him than most of his competition. They have to, numbers don't lie.

Other than the fact he's given them a few hundred grand of his inherited cash to buy his various mclarens I doubt they appreciate him for much else.

Mclaren as a brand sells itself. It would be like saying Rolex appreciate [Insert famous rolex wearing Celeb] because they wear Rolex watches alot.

At most people might stumble upon one of his videos when considering what its like to drive and live with a Mclaren.

Mclaren's rich historic presence and driving force in motorsport not to mention that little thing called the Mclaren F1 is what has cemented them as a household name.
Anyone that buys a care purely on what some bloke on the Internet says about it or how it looks making a racket in the middle of London has more money than sense but then again I wouldn't really say those people are car enthusiasts, more like attention enthusiasts.

They did have a Shmee day at McLaren Manchester and Shmee has helped create and name a couple of MSO paints.

It's interesting to see how far the relationship goes, especially now Shmee has a race license.

What has inherited cash got to do with it. People like you are just so bitter and jealous (although you will inevitably claim otherwise) that he was born into money.
He has a 675LT with a Spider version on the way, an FF and a GT4. He shares his passion with whoever wants to watch and gets into many places and shows us things that you might never see.
He may be a bit of a dweeb and not all his vids are good but I for one am thankful that there is someone out there who uses his ability to buy expensive cars to bring something to the masses which is way out of reach of 99.9% of people.
If you don't like - don't watch :p

I would argue probably not as far as a relationship goes with a F1 or P1 owner :)
Some F1 owners have frequently discussed with and personally know a large number of the Mclaren engineers

I'm not bitter or jealous :) (oh look I fell in to your little social trap, silly me)
but that opinion is the general consensus of a lot of people. As you said I don't want to watch his content so I don't. Everything i've said so far regarding Schmee has been very diplomatic as I admit I have watched very little of his content so I am not entitled to have an opinion on his presenting style, or his voice, or his personality or how he drives his cars as I've not watched it however the general one sided tone of this thread is that he is the best thing that's happened to the automotive industry since modern fuel injection systems were invented.

I'm just hoping to ground the conversation a bit and put across that not everyone is in to Supercars or Schmee for that fact :) as you say, I don't like it therefore I don't watch it but then the conversation would be very boring if only the people that loved it had any input.

Granted :thumb:
A lot of people highlight the inherited money but it's also it's quite possible he's made "most" of his own way in life.
Many people who are born into money are persecuted for it through no fault of their own. Some of them are up their own arses and others are grounded.
A friend of mine had a great circle of friends right upto the point when they found out about the size of the house she lived in and the fact her her Dad's commute to work was in a Hellicopter that was parked in his back garden. After that things just changed and she ended up in a private school with people with a similar wealth which was the last thing she wanted.

Not sure why I shared that as it's totally off topic :D
