Don't forget, as supplied they are very short. Unscrew the hub mount 4 or 5 turns and go from there.

Mine are on their way, just wondering what you mean by this? the pistons are short and need extending?

wrx9181 10 December 2010 11:14 AM

Thanks John ;-)

They are set short by the factory to allow them to be packed into the box. You just need to wind the bottom mount down before install or your car will be sat low :)

Can you offer the BC ER series coilovers on this GB? if so/not how much will they cost please. To fit a 2006 Hawkeye STi impreza.

Lee.

EH52WRX 11 December 2010 11:26 AM

Lee if you read this thread, they cant sell BC Coilovers on this GB. They are branded Apex Coilovers.

bren@apex 11 December 2010 11:40 AM

As above, the thread is now for the Apex units rather than BC. However theyre identical spec. I will see how quickly we could supply the external reservoir version. They come set up as competition spec so with the camber and castor adjustable front top mounts and rose jointed camber adjustable rear top mounts.

Do you want them in that spec or 'detuned' to be more suitable for road use so with the rubber OE style rear top mounts?

How quickly do you want them? We dont have any coming so can bring them, by sea or by air with a surcharge to cover the express airfreight. Sea will take 10 weeks, air will take a lot less. I will have to check on exact air lead time. Its possible that we could have them here for Mon 20th December, it just depends how quickly the factory can put the kit together for us.

Toffee 11 December 2010 12:34 PM

I am looking to use use my car daily but I want the shocks to be great for track days, thats why I am looking at the ER series.

I am looking to place an order before the end of the year (20%vat) and would like the shocks to be on my car by mid February.

Just waying up the price differences & quality between these & AST's before I make my decision.

Cheers,
Lee.

Speak to Duncan Graham about his coilovers, he will give you a 100% honest apprasial of them and I believe he took off ASTs to fit our kit so has good experience of both.

Drop him a pm :)

FYI Simon (Norris Designs) run our external reservoir kit on his 900bhp green short wheelbase Evo. He is competing in the AAA Saloon Cup Series this year and I believe he has won his class outright.

He also ran one of our external kits on his white Evo three in which he won several race events and MLR sprint rounds :)

Just fitted mine - thanks to those at Apex for nice quick delivery all the way to Japan.
Not even had the alignment done but these feel so good already.. A lot more comfortable than the old KTS coilovers - much more what I was after for every day use.

Pics here if anyone wants a look - lovely looking items.

We do try our best :)

Gaity 22 December 2010 06:55 PM

Hello Bren,

I need a set for my UK 05 STi however as I only ever drive on the crapiest of roads I would like a slightly softer ride with the ability to harden the dampers to the current STi level as appropriate.

On this basis would you recommend a 5/4 set up?

I'd also want the extended rear adjusters.

To order these should I simply phone up?

Cheers :thumb:

mrjelly 23 December 2010 02:21 PM

Thanks for PMs Bren,
Just ordered the camber bolts and extenders.

Might be useful for others to note.....
You cannot adjust the rear camber with these apex coilovers and my MY07 sti is sitting at neg 5 camber at rear (-2.5 a side) Prodrive road settings I'm told should be neg 3 so you need the camber bolts. Also to adjust the rear dampers on an sti saloon you need to take out the rear seats (only 5 bolts but a pain) so the extenders might be best for you too.
