My 1st 0.5ohm OCC coil packed in today, so almost 3 weeks life, with mostly sweet juices and a mixture of others, pretty decent :thumb: I pulled it apart and the part of the wick that goes through the coil had almost burnt away, the rest of it was still pretty clean. The 1.2ohm OCC head is in now and is ok, tastes a bit burnt though :wonder: sub ohming is the way forward for me.

Mines still going! The previous duals were lasting 2'odd weeks. I bought a are pack of 1.2's hope I like them.

You've been sticking to one juice thought right? the thug juice, that will help as it did on the old duals.

Well part of my order came from TW so made a nice 250ml of 18mg 50/50 pg/ag mix............should last the weekend:lol1:

Bit the bullet and bought the Kanger Kbox as a ......well no reason really, just another box mod to rotate and have as back up. Well priced at £25 and with discount and delivery £23 all in:)

More coils ordered for the delta 2 tank(not cheap as £8 for 2:eek: ) luckily used 19% code to ease pain and bought 4. Also topped up on some coils for the atlantis, under £13 delivered off amazon:) .

Not bothered right now for another tank, will plod on till one thats worth buying comes along(not similar to already owned basically).

More flavour on the way, ordered just now 250ml of PG and 250ml of AG as 19% discount running over the weekend on TW.

Cheers ven

I have to say Mark, this morning I have been trying the whole 'don't lung it' technique that you mentioned earlier in the thread. I have just been taking it into my mouth and exhaling and I have next to know stomach cramps at all.

Fingers crossed this means I can continue vaping!

It's been two months of agony!

Gear Head 24 March 2015 02:53 PM

Now that I seem to have made some progress, I am considering my next upgrade.

What is the deal with sub-ohm coils? Do they give a better vape?
Can I fit a sub ohm coil to my Ipow 2 tank and then use this with a Kanger Kbox Mod?
Or should I buy a Sub Tank Nano to go with the tank? :wonder:

This thread really is a god send so please accept my thanks to everyone who contributes. :thumb:

JackClark 24 March 2015 03:28 PM

Get a Subtank mini to go with the Kbox, fits better. You can't buy sub ohm coils for the IPOW.

Great news with the move in right direction, sounds like the stomach is sensitive to one of the ingredients.

Sub ohm in a nut shell,it gives more hit and more vape. So many users(example) may use 18mg nic,due to the sub ohm coils, they can reduce their nic mg . So maybe 8mg for example may suffice ......

Sub ohm requires a dedicated mod(ecig) other wise it will not detect the coil(as if there is not a coil )

So dedicated ecig mods only, too add only IMR or INR batteries due to the higher Amp draw. Depending on how low,how many W will= the A

Most lithium cells will be good for 4A,when i use 25w on a 0.5a coil,it asks 7A ish as an example.

I have on order the kanger Kbox to try, will give impressions once i get it. Other than that, check the eleaf i30 out or(same device, different name)

http://www.totallywicked-eliquid.co....2-product.html

Built in battery in the above if you dont want to go route of buying IMR 18650 cells and charger ...........may be way to go at 1st.

Back on Kbox, this will require 18650 batteries and charger. For this i would recommend the bellow, regarding quality, safe, cost and..........good reputations.

So for any ecig that requires 18650 cells
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-GENUINE...item2a4db5083d
LG
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-GENUINE-...item56720a12e6

I have lots of both cells and work great, another 2 ordered other day ready for the Kbox
http://i1126.photobucket.com/albums/...psrpu0lws7.jpg
http://i1126.photobucket.com/albums/...psudqlj4qg.jpg

Dont forget i have other uses than ecigs,so can justify...........well kind of:lol1: lots of cells and chargers etc etc

Any of these cells are great!!
http://i1126.photobucket.com/albums/...pswvambfad.jpg

Charger-now bare in mind its not best in range or charges fastest at 0.5A ,but has 2 bays and is still good/safe
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-XT...item541ad3522b

Other xtar such as vp1 and vp2 offer digital readouts of the V and up to 1A charge rate,so charges cells quicker, also lets you know the V of the cell. These of cost more, maybe something to look into later if time comes(no real need now).

Avoid anything from china ending in fire, ultra or whatever fire as hit/miss,even hit is dangerous..............

So IMR or INR chemistry for sub ohm use due to being more stable, allows for higher A .

Cheers ven:thumb:

Well I recently fell out with vaping! Since switching to the kanger subtank nano and Kbox mod,I have been getting a lot of spitting and cracking when vaping,it's been really bad and the liquid exploding into my mouth! I almost went back onto the cigs at one point :(

Anyway I realized that it could just be the liquid I'm using,I've been vaping 18mg nicotine with my mini protank2 and it's been ok,switched to sub ohm vaping and wow!!! The subtank and modbox is a real cloud maker lol.

Having done some reading I find 18mg could be too much for subs so I have switched right down to 6mg and it has sorted the exploding juice problem out,now getting a great hit and back to loving the vape :D

The Kbox is a great and very well priced modbox,20-25w all day vaping the battery's last 3 days. The subtank nano is great too,not much smaller than the mini and fits very well on the Kbox(you can't rebuild the coils on the nano but not fussed for that atm)
I am currently vaping juice from a place called quality eliquids.co.uk,good range of flavours and at just over £6 for 30ml it's a bargain and the ones I have tried so far are lovely.

JackClark 24 March 2015 06:14 PM

LOL. Mini Protank to sub ohm Subtank is quite a jump. It took a good while for my .5 coil to calm down, just switched to the 1.2 and it's far less volatile.

ven 24 March 2015 06:31 PM

Spitting etc can be from too high V or W depending on what your going off.

For example,i am vaping 50/50 mix 18mg and the V is 3.41=20W with 0.05ohm

Older type twin coils or triple like the delta tank,i am on 4.2v which=14w with 1.4ohm(3x4.2 ohm in series=1.4ohm)

So dont go off V or W,my advice is go off what works for you,if its 3.0v or 5.0v so be it.

Also, dont forget all devices are different,4v on one device might be like 5v on another(example) so no 2 are the same..........just thoughts.

If i stick my delta 1.4ohm on my evic,i can run it at 15w all day long at 5v.......dont get that much hit, takes a good 6+ second use for a vape
I stick the same tank on my i20 and it will burn it...........so 4.2v is the limit on the i20 with this same tank with a sub 5 second vape.

ossett2k2 24 March 2015 07:17 PM

I was planning on dropping nicotine down but now I'm stuck with a load of 18mg. Tried the 1.2ohm coil and it was just the same. The liquid wasn't as volatile at 8w but lost the flavor even with a long vape. I suppose it's all about trial and error and finding what works best for the kit I'm vaping with. Might look into buying another tank so I've got more options.
What is the best tanks for sub ohm you guys have tried and using so far?

ven 24 March 2015 08:10 PM

Could be possibly dragging too hard/much. Sometimes it can flood the coil/chimney(happened to me many times, still does time to time). Only way around it i found is slow ,long very light drag if makes sense.

Tanks wise, what i am enjoying right now are these 4

http://i1126.photobucket.com/albums/...psy8374pi8.jpg

Left to right

delta on my i20 /delta2(sub ohm )/kanger subtank/aspire atlantis

Delta 2 or subflow on TW is a good tank, down side only 3.5ml BUT if you dont want a big tank then this is a good option. Has a novelty adj as mentioned in another post to adj the fluid flow(i have fully open as imo a novelty)

Kanger sub- large 6ml(can buy in different sizes) Nice flavour, nice tank but not discrete.

Atlantis-comes as 2.5ml so topping up regular due to coil size, now can get upgrade 5ml tank and a lot better. Lots of large juice holes to coil wick.

Orig 2.5ml on right
http://i1126.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4k1xepp4.jpg

Nice tank, has full big bore(yep its called that:lol1:) tip which is on my vaporshark right now.

I can recommend any or all tbh, there are not that many sub -ohm tanks that are compatible with ready made coils.

Tanks are around £30 each give/take..........I like to have a few on the go to break use up a little. Also like a few mods for same reason, but as always you find your fav 1 or 2 set ups.

Idea on coil sizes, here is a pic,
top row are atlantis sub ohm 0.5ohm
under are the delta 2 sub ohm 0.5 ohm coils

Threw a normal coil ,one that may be recognised to show size difference to the sub ohms, and 2x delta 1.4ohm coils in packet
http://i1126.photobucket.com/albums/...psvvvwfqp6.jpg

ven 24 March 2015 08:14 PM

A solution ossett to your 18mg,would be to get some AG/PG and just add to the fluid, this if worked out via a calculator would "water" the nic level down, but also the flavour.

I am using pre bought flavours up on my i20 in the delta tank. This is always in the car ,so i use it then,home/work i sub ohm. Tbh the clouds could be a pita driving anyway.........and of course unsafe (my mix is not that bad reg vape though).

Imho there is no best tank, some will prefer X tank, others not so. Other options are vape shops, maybe a local one where you could try before you buy. After all £30 is a lot to waste on crap............been there and was not happy!!

ossett2k2 24 March 2015 08:59 PM

Cheers ven, good advice with some great options there :thumb:
I will have a look at the delta 2,should make a nice addition.
Didn't think of diluting the 18mg nic with some PG/VG,excellent idea :)

No probs:thumb: i would recommend adding some flavour though if too weak taste wise. Depending on the flavour(if menthol or a strong one should be ok for example) But you could buy just a bottle of flavour separate to match the ready made.

Delta 2 or subflow at TW(same)

Great call ven :)
Think I will go for the Delta 2 and RBA 15% off and it says 10% off for signing up(not sure if I can use both discounts at once tho?)
Going to order it tonight, will have a look around the site to see if there is anything else I can get while discount offer is on.

bioforger 24 March 2015 09:35 PM

Sub ohming pros, superior flavour, hit n vapour (if you're into that), OCC coils last ages.
Cons, can be a bit overwhelming for some at 18mg or above nic content, drinks juice, tends to taste a bit iffy as the juice gets very low in the tank.

I'm only getting spitting with the 1.2ohm coil in my mini subtank and sometimes juice in the chimney, which gives a very warm vape, but its fine for me, this is all at 20W.

Type of juice has been key for me when sub ohming, the TW juices are spot on, others in the IMOW2 megatank were fine, but just don't work that well when sub ohm'd, the flavours sometimes get "washed" out.

Conclusion vape up all my 18mg juice asap and make my own 14mg, 12mg or below samples for the next batch to be sub ohm'd :thumb:

One thing that i cant stop is i sometimes get juice in the drip tip, top of the tank, after half a day of vaping with the subtank mini, it seems to do it with any type of head in place. Anyone else had that?

I would top up on coils, they do seem to last pretty good...........dont forget i am a "heavy vapor" and i am happy with life.

Coils.........

Drip in top around the mesh/wick carefully, let it soak in..........repeat so maybe 5-10 drops. Look for sides of wick thought the gaps to look darker due to soaked in fluid. Fit together, couple of draws with no power, start a little low for first few vapes, gradually ramp up. I find around 20w ish(again a variable dependent on mod) works well for heavy vaping,no burning, all flavour and vape for hours............

That precess is good with any sub-ohm coil, ideally let soak up for further 10 mins once in tank but i dont always leave being honest(just best practice).

Tricky to fill, but manageable if top up slow down the narrow sides. The TW flask that holds 10ml makes it easer but more time consuming.
http://i1126.photobucket.com/albums/...psi5tviuei.jpg

Little better than taking bottle out,and you will need it as sub ohm is SUBstantial fluid use! .

However,its worth it:)

Look forward to impressions:thumb: i think you will like it,hard not to,however you will know what i mean with topping up regular. At work the TW flask goes,at home i use bottle............for ease really.

ossett2k2 24 March 2015 10:20 PM

£50 just spent at TW

Went for the subflow tank and subflow RBA
10 pre made 0.5 wire coils
5 jap organic cotton sheets
100ml PG dilute
4x5ml of flavor
And a free 10mg of sherbet lemon liquid.

Great deal really with the 16% discount
Thanks ven :thumb:

ven 24 March 2015 10:39 PM

Cool, dont forget AG too,the AG gives the smooth and vape part of the mix unless you have some. Fine with adding just PG,just a thought to balance it out.

Example,patriot range is 70%PG and 30&VG iirc

Not tried making my own coils...........yet! just sticking with the ready made 0.5 ohm for ease.

Once you start making your own fluid, soon start to save money, more so when buying 250mls of diluent(last for ages). iirc i paid a little over £4 a bottle with discount at time .

Should be processed tomorrow, maybe Thu or Fri latest for delivery........

ossett2k2 24 March 2015 11:02 PM

Nice one! Looking forward to trying the new tank now :)
Thought I'd give the coil making a go see how it goes.
I just went for PG for now to dilute the 18nic I have, they're 50/50 but really thick so recon they might have more VG than it says on the bottle?
I do intend on making my own juice in the near future, just got loads of bought premade stuff to get through 1st lol
Having a look around TW and great prices and deals on the fluids and flavours ect, especially with the yoyo they do.
Happy days and even cheaper vaping :D

I think my problem was inhaling and hold my breath for a couple of seconds before exhaling.

Couple of bottles of 10ml mix will be on way today,100% AG in white top,100% PG in orange top.

If ok then, just mix both together for 20ml of 50/50 mix:thumb:

Few bits and bobs today
http://i1126.photobucket.com/albums/...psfemrwxkr.jpg

Kbox
http://i1126.photobucket.com/albums/...pszvagakfh.jpg

http://i1126.photobucket.com/albums/...psh7jcdzvx.jpg

Initial impressions good!! like it,feels nice in hand, not as light as expected,so a reasonable weight to it(not that cheap light feel)

Next to the rDNA40 vaporshark for size
http://i1126.photobucket.com/albums/...ps44pddv3k.jpg

Simple 5 press for on/off,press the small W button at bottom to go up in W which cycles low to high...........etc
Left is battery level, right is W
http://i1126.photobucket.com/albums/...pszxaqatil.jpg

http://i1126.photobucket.com/albums/...pstgkf5fph.jpg

Put an LG IMR HE2 18650 cell in it,set at 20w with the delta 2 and nice vape.

Tank it was designed around, the Kanger subtank
http://i1126.photobucket.com/albums/...psufo98o1h.jpg

So ,being honest ,for the money i am quite pleasantly surprised . Build, threads are good at base(battery inserted). Spring does make it quite tight to secure on last threads, but secure and will loosen up over time.......no issue.

Fits well and natural in hand,if i was to put a value on it,i can easily see £60 ,compared to other devices/quality.

Certainly worth a look at for a cheap, well made variable W mod if in market.

Of course i will see reliability wise over the coming.........days/weeks/months.

So for around £25 or less, its a:thumb: so far from me,very good value:)

What i do is by AG over VG as basically its pre diluted VG so thinner. VG is thick, too thick on its own to wick easy. Normal ready made fuilds do vary per brand . But most are 70%PG/30VG give take 10% either way.

I enjoyed a higher AG mix, tried up to 70% AG and 30% PG with VG nic concentrate and ........wow the clouds. Too much for inside kind of clouds.

So i am happy with 50/50 now, find a good happy medium for flavour and vape but defo worth a little experiment to see what suits you best:)
