Nice car. Does it have Brembo calipers already? Or stand Subaru 4 pots?

I would not put LPG kit because of the cost of a good system + wet kit in the UK is around £1500/2000 and I don't do enough miles to justify that expense, also Subaru valves don't seem to like it from what some people here say. I know this is probably popular in your country because LPG is very popular out here in Croatia too, because of that the kits are cheaper and it's easy to find people to fit them for quite cheap prices.

Drive it for a while and enjoy it before you start thinking about spending more money on it, don't use 95 ron petrol, Shell V power or Tesco momementum only and you will be fine. :thumb:

Edit to add; get yourself a set of gauges and a centre pod for them that goes where the clock is, then you will be able to get around 30mpg by watching the boost gauge and by not letting it boost too much you will get decent mpg around town.

Avoid drilled discs as they tend to crack around the holes.

Thank you! Unfortunately on my way back I could not find a decent petrol station, and put some 95 from ESSO, but I hope if it's only once it won't be a problem. The guy I bought it from said he only used good quality fuel and oil, think he mentioned Castrol 5W-30.

Is it relatively easy to install the guages, I always liked the way they look on the centre console :) And thank you for telling about the drilled discs!

P.S. As for the friends in Bulgaria, I have never had so many likes on pictures on Facebook :luxhello:

It is with the standard calipers from WRX mate :) A friend who had the newest hatchback Impreza STI/330 bhp/ told me that he was not impressed by the brakes either, even though he had the Brembo ones..

Will be looking out for this around worcester glad you found 1 your happy with

If they are standard calipers then you can't just fit bigger discs without an adaptor kit. Standard size discs of 4 pots are 294mm.

I think Godspeed do an larger disc package for £600.

And using 95 Ron fuel WILL be bad for the engine, especially if you have used any boost. Don't kid yourself, these engines really do have to run on higher octane fuel. It even say that in my filler cap. '98ron or above only'.

Just don't want you to buy the car and then have it go pop soon after due to a lack of knowledge. Do some reading fella.

Yes I know, I was putting this fuel with a heavy heart but it was only because I don't know the area, had approx. 10 litres left and had to put some fuel on, didn't know whether I will find a good petrol station but I hope if it is only once it won't be a problem. I really wanted to put some 98 octane and asked one of the truck drivers while I was on the ferry to direct me but he said I could hardly find 98..

@Belevski, the car started its life in Worcester back in 2003, then went to Northern Ireland and now it's back home :)

I was just wondering whether to buy Castrol Edge 5W-30 fully synthetic oil for the Scooby but want to hear from you first, what oil do you usually use for your Imprezas? :)

Franks 16 March 2014 09:30 PM

I did a lot of searching when buying oil for my STI. 10w50 was the most popular choice, followed by 5w40.
5w30 wasn't a very common choice by all accounts.

Millers CFS seems to be the oil of choice for most.

I took some nice photos the day before after I washed the Scooby and I must admit, I completely love it :luvlove: I need to change the cambelt though plus tensioners and the water pump as It was last changed in 2006 when the car was on 50,000 miles so it still has got 7,000 to go until it reaches 100,000 but I want to be sure that everything will be good when I am going to Bulgaria. However, I was told to look for a closed type water pump as it has bigger pressure. What do you use on your Imprezas?

Here are the pics :)

Oh yes, and I will put 20 mm wheelspacers to get a proper rally look, if someone has them for sale, get in touch :)
