If your selling an RA with a chav body kit, woosh valve, 1000bhp engine, roof scoop, BGW....your missing the point, its not really a RA anymore...

Moley 30 November 2013 07:52 PM

If you've had a race on a public highway pop a post up and tell us all about it.
We love hearing about how you've beaten X/Y/Z, especially if you throw a top speed in.
We will all think you're a driving god, and give you a hearty 'well done''

Always good to hear about private runways and top speed runs then the subsequent ... "is this my bottom end, my oil pressure is fine" questions ;)

14. Newbies ensure that you realise how massively inferior all UK models are compared to JDM cars

We are not worthy of rear wiper blades and twin scroll turbos

This is of paramount importance, remember all JDM engines are forged, blueprinted and personally jizzed on by the CEO of Fujitsu Heavy Industries :)

Moley 30 November 2013 08:15 PM

It's also widely accepted that your mechanic mate, who once worked on a Subaru, is the fountain of knowledge on fixing/modifying/maintaining them.

Any well known tuners advice must be ignored at all cost, unless your mate has already said the same.
The same applies to the members who have been here for years and have been there and done it.... they know nothing, always consult your mate and nobody else.

If you need advice on Subaru ...first you'll need to join Facebook

Ah yes, the only mod needed for the magic 500bhp.... the manual boost controller. The modification of the champion. :D

Yep 2 bar is completely safe on an ebay manual boost controller, it's also a given that at the sametime you should get your mate to install a 3" ebay flexi uppipe to maximise spool for the increase in output ;)

thenewgalaxy 30 November 2013 08:28 PM

16. Remember that fitting a turbo timer is NOT an alternative to servicing your car

Possibly, but only if you fit a VTA dump valve aswell

theduck 30 November 2013 08:57 PM

I heard that a VTA is bad, and that I should fit a blanking plate instead? Keep all the boost in ;)

Shame on you Gary, you forgot the Turbonator!!!

Maybe I need to find a new insurer, as you clearly "don't know the score" ;)

17. Mapping.....If you are lucky enough to own a Subaru built between the years 1992 and 2013 then you really have a special model. The clever boffins at Subaru fitted these model years with a self learning ecu.

So........

When asking for advice about what effect your latest engine mod will have on the factory map and someone "know it all" says it needs mapping he is talking out of his arse. The ecu will sort it all out for you with the self learning mode which is easily activated by......

1.Turn on ignition
2. Selecting all gears(clutch pedal half way)starting in reverse and working backwards from 5th/6th to 1st
3. Rest mileometer

Its really that easy and should put a stop to "which mapper is best" style threads..:thumb:
