If hes happy to use halfords ducting as an inlet pipe, im guessing theres other little gems of bodge it and scarper in there too..... could be an accident waiting to happen.

I fail to see how wether halfords ducting means the rest of it is ****e? Spiral ducting is pretty much the same no matter what brand it is...

Its silicone covered fabric with wound wire to stop it from collapsing.

Works very well actually :norty:

Spiral ducting fixed in with gaffa ..... in a car he wants £18k for ..... sorry, but thats just a pikey solution!

And im not saying the rest of it is ****e, but with the lack of attention to detail shown in the engine bay, i wouldnt be at all suprised if there were some questionable corners cut elsewhere.

But you hadnt got a clue what power it would make despite the turbo etc being listed :).

The engine and turbo are decent the rest is crap.

Right, so the problem isnt the spiral ducting, the problem is the duct tape.

There is nothing wrong with the ducting at all, and been halfords brand or any other really makes no odds :)

I use the same set up on mine albeit blue samco spiral ducting, but I can assure you it gives no issues, and has ran like that for many years

Your bang on there actually, its not as much the parts (although i do have an issue with that spiraducting as ive had it split before), but the installation.

And im probably generalising by judging the rest of the build on the few things that in my eyes are a let down.... gaffad spiral ducting being one of them.

"But you hadnt got a clue what power it would make despite the turbo etc being listed ."

Still dont know where you got that from! .... guessing youve got an axe to grind.

"The engine and turbo are decent the rest is crap."

agreed

I just keep an eye on mine, I refuse to pay for a silicone hose that are quite liable to collapse anyways. Never had my spiral stuff collapse. Its cheap enough to replace if i do get a hole in it.

Holding it together with tape is rough though and i see precisely where you are coming from, as for 18k I wouldnt want to be seeing anything taped on!

On the same token, if someone will part with 18k for it fair play to the guy, something is only worth what someone will pay for it, and wether that be not alot or 18k its worth something to someone! Just wether he can find that right someone!

Personally, its worth the crusty mars bar I found under the seat of my van earlier :D

ducting is the least of your worries with 500bhp with wrx brakes and suspension.

the wrx brakes and suspension arent up to standard wrx power which is around half what that is running now.

That's what I don't get. He has racing tyres fitted but is running standard brakes?
:wonder:

i dont get the whole car.

decent engine build, then wrx brakes and suspension and worse of all a sticker kit but also the tyres would concern me as i cant imagine they work well when cold and damp.

Im guessing he fits the "sticker crew" stereotype tubbs ..... those tyres arent there for theyre performance over the aesthetics!

Also just noticed this

"EVERYTHING HAS BEEN DONE AND BEEN DONE PROPERLY!"

....... does typing a lie in capitals automatically make it true?

i thought this when i was 18, fitted a calibra turbo engine to a 1.1 corsa complete with drum brakes on rear.

i soon found out that when brakes overheat they dont work and said corsa ended up in a tree.

lesson learnt:freak3:

Maybe thats why hes kept the 5spd?

regulates his right foot! If he trys too hard, potentially meaning he'll push beyond the brakes, the gearbox ****s itself stopping him hitting trees.

Effective solution!

the car hasnt been built properly in my opinion, if it had it would have a box up to the job and also brakes and suspension to handle the power.

on the plus side though it cant have been driven hard with those brakes on it.

its a good base for a fast impreza but still needs a few more k throwing at it, needs a six speed box and some proper brakes at a minimum

CREWJ 07 November 2013 04:58 PM

That would handle worse than my sport. That's a lethal weapon right there.

At 18k That's a bargain! ;)
