I just bought a 54 plate blobeye 2 owners full stamped service booked interior is like brand new there are a few small stone chips on bonnet, not a scuff on any of the alloys and the engine is completely standard I would say it's very close to mint.

There are lots of very clean well looked after cars on here but mint, none.

The phrase 'mint condition' gets used alot when describing cars when they actually mean 'in exceptional condition'. Mint in my eyes means completely unmarked in every area of the car, a show winner, in as new condition.

Couldnt agree more, even if your Scooby is 2009 onwards your talking about a 16k car, thats less than most normal family cars. Just enjoy the thing

Tbh itīs almost a case of īdamned if you donīt, damned if you do,.

F1īs had a nice car vandalised, doing it up and Lord knows it might happen again.
I could have mine vandalised after getting it īmintī.

Anyone could have their īmint car damaged in the same way as either of usī but what do you do, leave it and take a hit on the value or spend as much as the īvalue regainedī?

Iīm actually waiting until I can get a reasonable chance of having it film protected as soon as itīs been detailed, so as to protect my īreinvestmentī as far as possible.

Will I get that reinvestment back?
I really donīt know.

Do many people crawl underneath to look??? I just don't get the obsession with cleaning to such a extent.

That's fantastic
Part of my vision in ten years time is cars turning up at the NBO all looking like that and some on trailers

It will happen I'm sure as we all get as Er...... Dedicated as the RS brigade

rsdub 30 October 2013 10:45 PM

this was in the show arena a couple of years back at the nbo.going to upset a few people but, without a show arena or show n shine you dont have a show

Cheers guys... And Matty your right mine may be getting there but it's not mint and it will never be, there's a few dents that I'm going to get sorted at some point plus a few small marks on the oem paintwork, it's 19 years old at the end of the day plus a few other areas as well.
I did not start the project to build a show and shine car I started it to freshen it up which turned into a restoration, but it's a sympathetic restoration, my vision was to refurbish as much oem as possible and enhance bushes and mounts where needed to get the handling better than new. Bead blasted areas are visible through the new paint for me to show the history of the car, I'm not all about lavishing thousands to make it new as that looses for me the car.

I'm not planning on being a slave to it but I will keep it clean, after all of this it's a must or there was no point in doing it, yes it's coming off the road in the winter but as soon as I can I will be using it and enjoying it. The thing is if some of these early cars are not restored or garaged over winter at some point they will not exist they will all be scrapped and a chunk of history for the marque will dissapear so we need to save a few. If I had not bought the RA it was destined for Slovakia and it would have gone on the track and thrashed to death, left in the uk unrestored I think 2 years and areas would have gone to far to fix.
Basically for me it was the right model and year to save.

rsdub and stop showing pics of Evos and get some pics up of those lovely VW you own!!!:notworthy

topshot 31 October 2013 03:54 PM

Trouble with keeping a car like its new is that you spend more time cleaning/fixing tiny issues with bodywork/wheels etc that you start to move away from the whole point of owning an Impreza, which is blasting it about on track or down the B roads.

Saying that I keep mine washed and waxed and for a 13 year old car it looks very good, I know it has minor imperfections but 99% of people wouldn't see them unless I pointed them out.

That's my sentiments as well.....I think one of the reason is that, sadly there aren't too many mint or restored subarus around.

I posted a thread requesting for pictures of mint cars and I got zero subarus. :lol1::o https://www.scoobynet.com/members-ga...ourselves.html

As far as Japanese cars go, the mintest or restored ones I've come across are R32 GT-R, Hakosuka GT-R, old Fairlady Z, 2000GT, and 2 EVO 6s.

The concours EVO 6 RS :notworthy http://www.lancerregister.com/showthread.php?t=136066

And one of the cleanest and most original EVO 6 TME I've ever seen.

Looks lovely (I think - I'm glad to see it's not just me that has potential for improvement in my photography) but to be 'mint' in my book, it would need to be just the same underneath too.

Is it?
