Not the only option at all.
Mine runs a Forge recirc valve. Joshnosh: you get more noise from a recirc valve if you go with an induction kit, BUT they can knacker your maf. Dose anyone know how much a maf is offhand? |

Here we go again Why start another thread as its been well covered numourous times ? Maybe show some respect to the high posters who post reasons why dump valves cause problems :D Most of us have moved to a specialist forum on fb to discuss issues such as dump valve ,fake roof vents ,dodgy graphics and ill fitting body kits You will need the special password to join though Pm tubby for it |

I wanted to actually ask as well not just read tid bits 2 this isn't my first forum. The amount of posts that someone has means little towards how much they know. Its often worse as they have self inflated ideas about them self's and have been exposed to years of miss information that's exclusive to the forum Other forums iv been on people have fitted dump valves to maf cars and it'd been common practice and even recommended. Iv already read the dump valve threads and I know vta and maf is not a good idea. Hence why im not doing it. I care about the technical aspects but not peoples opinions on what looks and sounds good, chavy, bad. So don't bother posting if your just looking to have a go or take the piss. |

what i dont get is if they are so bad why dont mappers refuse to map cars that have them fitted? if they are the ticking time bomb certain people claim them to be you would think they wouldnt entertain cars with them fitted as the owners would be knocking down their doors complaining after the engines went pop 6 months later? or even a verbal disclaimer before mapping commences saying he will map the car on the understanding that he takes no responsibility because a dump valve is fitted?

from my own (limited) experience with recirc and VTA on my 06 WRX.. VTA is not as much of a problem as people make out, either that or the VTA valve im running just happens to work nicely and others dont?
i first tried removing and capping off the recirc pipe and left the standard valve venting to atmosphere. this caused the car to want to stall alot of the time after venting. i then tried a cheap no frills ebay VTA valve and it works like a charm. no stalling, no wanting to stall, no issues with noticeable hesitation after changing gears and honestly i cant really tell much if any difference in initial pick up in the next gear when driving hard compared to the standard recirc valve. if you want the noise id suggest one of the ebay VTA valves, they give you BOV noise without any problems and are nice and cheap so when/if you get bored with VTA your not at a significant loss if you want to switch back to the standard recirc or an aftermarket recirc. additionally on my 06 WRX since i fitted a catback to the car it will now pop nearly every time the turbo starts to spool or is spooled up and i lift off the throttle. i did expect that though as VTA causes a momentary rich spike as metered air that has already passed through the MAF is venting out of the system but the ECU still injects fuel for the amount of air that has been measured. doesnt do any harm and sounds pretty cool but ill openly admit theres no point whatsoever for it other than putting a grin on your face until you get bored with it lol this is the one i got: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2513015025...84.m1439.l2649 also you will need a suiably sized bung for the recirc hose, i measured it up and went and got myself one of these which did the job: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2906542896...84.m1439.l2649 all in cost me about £35 so not going to break the bank and for that price you wouldnt be too worried binning it in future when/if you get bored with the noise. also FWIW if your looking to do some basic mods that wont upset the ECU i can tell you that a panel filter and catback work nicely and dont cause any problems ECU wise. i will be mapping my WRX myself in future but for now im happy with the 256bhp/262lbft she put out recently on the rollers with the catback and panel filter (and pointless VTA valve). |
ive a blue twin horn GFB 100s dump valve for sale 40 delivered shes a beauty and loud

FMIC and OEM recirc here. :) |
It's a punt though that it will cope with 1.4 bar :)

There's a world of difference between a V1/2 WRX OEM recirc and a Newage recirc in terms of age and reliability :) I wouldn't run the V1/2 OEM item at 1.4 bar but it doesn't mean you can't, personal choice but not necessarily the right one :)
And it still doesn't detract from the fact that running a VTA for the sole purposes of a 'pssssst' makes you a massive bellend :thumb: |

has anyone tired the semi recerc valves?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GFB-BLOW-O...-/221173689513 or the adjustable ones? http://www.balancemotorsport.co.uk/p...p?partno=T9025 iv seen these used before real nice bits. a fair bit off money but adjustable would be really good. that way i can turn it right up for when i go see da boys down at maccy ds car park on firday nights without runining ma motor |

What boost are you running ? Forge wouldn't guarantee my Forge recirc above OEM boost so not really an option at 1.4 bar :) Forge disclaimer that it's not designed to be run at higher than standard boost. Therefore in terms of FMIC I can only relay manufacturers recommendations for the Forge Recirc :) Leaving you the option of a VTA or a DV delete :)
Running it capped at 1.5 bar, mapped by Bob Rawle, who also recommended and sold me the d/v/. Joshnosh: avoid Bailey valves, they are trouble;) |

josh why not get a electronic dump valve put a switch in the dash the you can turn it on when you want the noise

Fair enough :) All I can do is relay the information supplied/emailed to me by Forge when I specified that I wanted to run their Recirc on a V2 STi running 1.4 bar on a FMIC set up. If you are using it that's great but it doesn't change the fact that it's being used outside the spec of the manufacturers recommendations :) I wasn't prepared at the time to spend over £100 on a shiney part that could fail being used above OEM boost :thumb:
TBH, many manufacturers, when asked about components, go into CYA mode. Just like my Scoob: when I had it from new, the manufacturers stated 0-60 time was 5.9 sec. It would do it in 5.2-5.4 once run in, but they won't state that, as some tw@ will rag one from new, then complain it won't do it. |

Just to clarify as i might have misslead. I said I wanted more but I don't actualy want a great big dirty vta that sounds like a 747. I just want some noise. Its a powerful turbo car and its got no noise at the moment. My astra had more induction noise when I had a cone on it. So yeah just some noise not loads
|
Its not a powerful car, its a wrx :)
