But the watch only alerts you of things that are happening on your phone and funnily enough I can actually look at my phone when I hear it ring etc as I don't need a 3rd party to tell me I have a txt.

Your right people from Apple probably would buy them as they would buy anything if they marketed it :)

Its already proving a big hit :) It will probably end up in the cupboard with the pie maker and bread maker :D

Yea and that will be you, Jackoff "must buy anything Apple" Clark.

As you already are a massive tosser you might as well buy the iWatch, nothing lost and more importantly nothing gained ;)

There are lots of times when you can't look at the phone and as for the times you can, why bother, when you can be informed without stopping whatever it is you're doing and ignore it if you wish?

Further development alongside various apps will see the watches being capable of a lot more. Already developers working on the Pebble have released much more than the basic retail product.

This watch will be right up there on the ahopping list of peoe who say bought google glasses ffs.

Not one person has commented on my matt black watch or probably even noticed it as any different. You'll probably find more wánkers wearing a watch costing a quarter of their annual wages pretending they are well off.

Or just maybe they want a quality watch that tells the time and will last forever... a bit like how just a few of us still want a mobile phone that primarily you can make calls on ;)

f1_fan 06 September 2013 08:10 AM

On the subject of the watch itself it looks interesting, but let's wait for Apple's offering to see how it is when it's done properly!

Galifrey 06 September 2013 09:04 AM

Sony have one as well, you get it free when you pre-order the new Z1

That don't keep the time as well as a mobile phone, get worn less than your high heels and cost the wannabes more than their weeks wages to service.

As for a cheap Smartwatch not lasting as long, that is the whole idea to change if necessary when technology improves beyond an exiting watches capabilities. My watch cost a bit more than some people pay a month on Sky. I backed the business from the onset knowing it'd be a great tool for me. A nice, expensive watch is another thing altogether and has its place, more for some than others. I for one now have experience of both and having always worn a decent watch for years, they are now resigned to their winders for whenever.

As for modern mobile phones, calls aren't the primary reason for using one in every case. If it was for me I'd still use my Motorola V50 and smartphones wouldn't be of much interest. I've used an Internet connected phone since the Sony P900 days because running business interests was truly portable. I could do track days or be anywhere and not miss a thing. Now it is even better, internet connection is improved and the new watches mean you glance at your wrist unnoticed, and amongst other things, without appearing rude when in company.

Don't let your desperation to troll every post ruin a basic ability to understand some posts.

All I said was that for a few people they just want a watch that tells the time and a phone that makes calls. I was offering that as an explanation as to why someone might wear such a watch as opposed to your simpleton style explanation of them being a w4nker.

As it seems you need it spelling out to you the key prase there was 'for a few people' i.e. not all so how about you start practising what you preach and reading and understanding what people write in posts rather than gobbing off about trolling, assuming that is, you have the ability to do that on which the jury is out in my book!

Oh and I am sure a psychologist would have a field day with how vigorously you are defending your 'watch'.... I wasn't even making a judgement on it yet you go off on some rant about desperation and trolling :Whatever_... the old adage "methinks she doth protest too much" comes to mind :lol1:

ScoobyDoo555 06 September 2013 10:26 AM

The concept of a smart"phone" is beginning to dwindle imho.

The new title is simply, "communications device" - how many people just use their phone for internet access (via wifi or 3/4G)?
Or just use it for texting?

I've got a friend who's deaf - so the desire to make a call per se, it totally irrelevant. However, the need to communicate via text or BBM etc etc is a real life-changer.
It's opened an entire new world for him.

And a lot of the younger generation find value in text rather than voice comms.

Just my 2p.

As for the watch, no doubt it will be successful, but not for me - I prefer a watch in a more traditional sense. But that's just me.

No you didn't, you mentioned quality and longevity too, I offered an explanation. The wánker reference was in reply to stevebt using the term. You're not doing very well up to now.

Nothing needs spelling out. You often have no experience of both sides but it doesn't stop you posting cráp. OK, it is a public forum but you really act like a grade A cúnt. In this case, why continue to knock modern phones if 'you and a few' only require a phone to make calls? Getting it yet?

I'm not defending my watch in the slightest, let alone vigorously, you weirdo. I'm putting forward facts from both perspectives, which is why threads should work. There doesn't have to be a right or wrong. It certainly wasn't a rant but I suspect you got a little upset when you read the word trolling associated with yourself and posted more inaccurate, inane cráp in response. Try and pretend not to be a cùnt for a day and see if other posters notice.

Well let's see here, I did and you have just chosen to do that selective reading thing you do all the time. Added to that I don't feel the need to call anyone a w4nker over what watch they use, you on the other hand....

Maybe I am a Grade A cnut, that will be because I get that way dealing repeatedly with idiots on these forums. You do need it spelling out as once again you have accused me of knocking modern phones when all I said was that some people still want a phone to be a phone, it doesn't detract from modern phones and how other people use them. It was just an allegorical reference to an alternative explanation to that put forward by you of them being a w4nker for wearing an expensive watch. If you can't understand that then I suggest you logout and f**k off to Facebook!

I'll repeat, Dimlow, I used stevebt's reference of wánker, it wasn't my own.

Totally agree. The phone is pretty much secondary for a lot now. Using the watch to control you music would be good though, not?

So you didn't suggest people wearing a watch costing a bit of money were w4nkers then? OK I see. You must do selective writing as well as reading ;)

Very good and useful indeed, but it's been a function available (either locally or via DNLA) for a while now.

Seems (to me) a bit excessive as my "phone" is on my person most of the time.... or next to the remote controls anyway.

But as a sideline, I have always enjoyed your taking people to task over their postings!!! Keep it up - its highly entertaining and helping my Friday afternoon race along!! :D

I'm not a music listener via my phone myself. In fact I only have 2 tunes on there and both are COB's. :D However, I did sit my phone in the sound system dock and operate it from my watch once. For a hardcore muso like yourself I understand it is just another way to achieve what you do regularly via another method. :thumb:

If you seriously think the average person won't think your a complete knob for wear a Samsung gear wach you are dilusional, plus you are really defending your watch when no one has made a comment about you just the idea of the watch :D

The watch can be your opening line when your chatting to the girls, that will go down well :D

ScoobyDoo555 06 September 2013 03:36 PM

TBH, I only use my phone to control the "hifi" when we've got guests, saves getting up and interrupting the room :)

It's also useful to wind the wife up :D

And TBH, THAT would be cool to do from a watch :D

I'd be more concerned about looking thick constantly using the word 'your' instead of 'you're'. The average person is just that, average. If that is to bother you in a decision then it says a lot about the person you are.

Anything that serves a purpose and functions well gets a look in. Dismissing things through ignorance only serves to make someone look daft, at best.

I shan't be getting the Samsung/Sony but the watch I use works great for my purposes.

The watch and who wears it does not bother me but it seems to bother you as to what people think? and now your trying to be the big man by picking grammar faults that were just typed on a phone  That attitude will go well with your watch :)

You need to make your mind up what it is you're saying, you appear awfully confused. Nothing big man about pointing out you don't know the difference between the 2 simple words in the English language. You've done it again in your last post and many times before it on other posts. You see, that is how it is for some of us, listening to opinions from people who can't even spell or use basic grammar correctly negates the validity of their opinion somewhat, rightly or wrongly. You're not alone though on SN so don't get feeling spesh.

I probably will buy one if Apple launch one, they've pinched a guru from Nike who just might make it useful. Maybe the motion sensor will score my masturbation.
