Think I'd go for an Aston V8 Vantage or possibly a very tidy 997 Turbo S.

With potentially expensive running costs, not to mention quite a bit of depreciation in 12 months?
And a 997 TS wil cost >£50k...

I'd still get either.

No way I'd blow big bucks on a car like a Sierra or Delta!

Fwiw if it was my cash I'd get something big and powerful, but for 20k and put the rest into the house tbh.

Can get a sorted 600hp newage for 15k, or a 500hp classic for less than 8k, and afford to run it and rebuild it etc! Don't see the point in spending so much money on a car!

It's still not living the dream though!

What about more of a classic car? GT40 (replica)? Eleanor (replica)?

Porsche?

Well, I may be Biased, but I'd go for the R8.

Mine doesn't really cost me much money to run. Apart from Service, Tax, Insurance, and fuel, nothing has gone wrong.

It looks far better than a 911. It always gets people looking at it, and lots of people come up and chat to me about it. You've got the V8 noise too.

Unless the 911 is a GT3/RS, I'd say the R8 was better than the regular 911 C2S or C4S. Just my opinion.

Just get a Manual, so you get the `Clack` `Clack` from the open gate gearbox.

Not a supercar, but Caterhams don't seem to depreciate once they're about 5 years old - can go over speed humps if you're careful as well.

You could get a nice R300 and have most things out there eating your dust (remember the R300 was 3rd on the Top Gear track board for ages).

Thanks for all of the suggestions! :) Have given it a lot of thought over the past couple of weeks and have decided to.........carry on saving!! :D

I think I'm in the middle of no mans land where I don't quite have the budget for a decent supercar but am quite close.

By aiming for the 60-70k mark I can either go full out on a decent Lambo/Fezza or buy a cheaper fast sports car alternative and pay off a reasonable chunk of the mortgage.

It's going to take a few more years to get to that level but seems like the right choice for now......:Whatever_ #noballs :lol1:

Have you done the maths to see how your monthly repayments could change if you put the £50k down on the mortgage regardless?

If you put it down and all of a sudden your mortgage term dropped to 5 years, I'd seriously get the mortgage nailed and worry about your supercars later :)

I would go for a 911 turbo with some sort of widebody on it, go back around ten years and you can get one for around 25k amd wont loss much if anything on it.
