Nice one thanks mate, got some carbon ones on they way

Swedge 24 July 2013 11:50 AM

No worries you'll see the metal clip when you start pulling it back

Swedge 24 July 2013 05:33 PM

Any idea why my disks are wearing like this?

Only fitted a month ago with new pads, other side is fine

Swedge 25 July 2013 03:57 PM

just gotta wait on the paint hardening then they will be fitted properly

not happy about the sticker location as the black writing needs to come up a bit but it stuck down when lining them up

on the lookout for a splitter now

had to get the paint miced up at halfords, what a piss take the cans are to use

EssexJamie 25 July 2013 04:05 PM

Looks good them. On the disks I have no real idea could have been a lodged stone?

Swedge 25 July 2013 04:12 PM

its wierd that its missing the center of the pad

It's always been an intention to buy another engine and rebuild it so I grabbed at the chance of this engine

It's from an 02 wrx 77k miles, my intentions are to strip it down completely new bearings rings etc standard rods and pistons as I'm not looking for mega power as I'm sticking with the 5 speed

Will give the head some porting and clean up the castings marks

Got it for £280 delivered :)

Other mods will be td05, sti top mount, walbro pump, sti injectors, decat up pipe with ported and wrapped headers, bell mouth downpipe with 3" exhaust with no cats

Bhp estimate 310-320?

Swedge 26 July 2013 05:11 PM

Oh yeah and a remap from andy Forrest probably

What's the best way about getting the engine running with the mods though? As in first start up and run in

Install all the mods get it running then visit the likes of andy?

Or fit the standard items then run it in then replace with upgrade items?

Will the standard ecu run with sti injectors

lofty35 26 July 2013 06:02 PM

looking good mate , I have a splitter if u want £50, only 10 month old in black, ht autos one.

craigybaby 26 July 2013 06:06 PM

personally mate if you are gonna strip it down why not fit forged items least you know then its bullet proof and room for more power if you ever want it

Swedge 26 July 2013 06:19 PM

If I can get a good price on some forged items i may, like I said I'm not looking for mega power which is why I'm keeping the 5 speed

I see what your saying though

yeah exterior will be staying as it is apart from a splitter

im toying with the idea of smoking the inside the headlights, splitting them and painting them

i have some of that fly eye stuff thats sorta like window tint, i may try that first if it looks crap ill just take it off

Swedge 27 July 2013 03:43 PM

also, i noticed on my lower grill on the bumper theres no plastic mesh, is there supposed to be one there?

EssexJamie 27 July 2013 09:30 PM

Fly eye stuff looks really good if you get it on properly had it on my R32 and X5.

Swedge 27 July 2013 10:09 PM

It's in the post anyway so ill give it a bash, if its crap ill just take them off and split the headlights and paint them

Engine arrived today, will start the strip down this week

Quite handy to have it sitting there as I have my timing belt to do on my car this week :)

Swedge 30 July 2013 04:36 PM

fitted my fog light covers and some fly eye tint over the headlights, wasnt too bad a couple creases but its hard to stretch without ripping it

i did intent to use some threaded bar and use the original fog light mounts but the metal was rotten behind the bumper

i still used the threaded bar but also used big washers and nuts, gonna get some blue caps for the nuts that are showing

EssexJamie 30 July 2013 07:48 PM

Did you heat it?
I'd my side markers and indicators today and yesterday as well.

foxy scoob 30 July 2013 08:43 PM

Liking these fly eyes mate....

Was going to pull my blobeye ones apart soon but might try this first:wonder:

Swedge 31 July 2013 08:46 AM

Yeah i heated them, there's not much stretch in them and can tear quite easily

EssexJamie 31 July 2013 10:09 AM

Yeah I found after a few attempts that if you heat it then as its cooling pull it into where you want it, then heat it again so it regains its shape.
Looks good though mate

Swedge 31 July 2013 02:34 PM

cheers folks, had a lot on this week so timing belt is on hold till next week

I've just bought a ppp daughterboard for my bugeye, just need the silicone pipe and the restrictor pill then I can get the board soldered in

Anyone know the size of the restrictor pill for a ppp bugeye wrx?

Also got started on stripping down the engine I bought

Looks to be in good condition so far, the bores still have the hat hung marks with no scrapes or anything like that

Just need a big hex key so that I can get the pistons out then split the block, anyone know the hex key size so I can remove the nut to get to the gudgeon pins
