Indeed, it frustrates me that I work for a European company where the official standard is "American English" :wall:

People who can't tell the difference between "we don't understand" and "I don't understand", when applied to some controversial topic that requires a level of knowledge and expertise. Topics like GM crops, fracking, global warming, that sort of thing.

People who mistake their own beliefs for objectively measurable hard facts, or who don't recognise the difference.

People who express opinions on subjects that they know nothing about, and who believe that their contribution to the debate nevertheless has value.

edit to add, media organisations that sensationalise things just to generate money. Then the people who believe this information to be true - and the celebrity culture, and the ever growing compensation culture.

that woman that says "press 1 for... press 2 for... ... ... ..." then she tried to be a real person by asking you to say ... for your choices rather than press a number, then she says "sorry I didn't get that, please say again or press 1 / 2," then she says "I still didn't get that, I'll transfer you to an operator. Great, that is what I wanted to do in the first place.

She also works for Orange and asks you to type in your phone number / debit card number / amount etc and then she reads it back to you and asks you to confirm that it is the correct read back by pressing 1. The system itself works well, it's just that She tries to be a real person by saying things like "I... " or "let me..."
