I stand on the wall and piss all over mine:thumb:

I use VW screenwash at a pretty high concentrate. Doesn't freeze, and acts as a very good de-icer.

Start it up for 10/15mins before your ready to go. Or if you can get electric to it. Put a fan heater inside it and leave ir running all night.

i run my car for 10 mins every morning/ evening before driving it and my work mate said you know your doing more harm than good doing that!

i was like what you mean all its doing is running off the turbo timer to warm up the engine, your going to graze the pistons in no time "/ what does that mean never heard of it before

must do less damage than driving straight from cold

bustaMOVEs 12 December 2012 07:46 PM

Shell card lol
But cardboard on windscreen and if you have quick warming heaters like mine then it's easy to clear the fog off.
A/c heats up quicker and is advised that it's used every day for couple of minutes at least to keep it working correctly.
Oh and I forgot, heated seats work lurvley in this cold lol

Hawkeye D 12 December 2012 07:47 PM

He probably means glaze the pistons (Cylinder liners).
I can't see how though, the fuelling looks after itself, ok it takes longer to warm up on idle, but then maybe more harm done driving it up to temp??

Not sure on this one.
But glazing is where the cross hatch marks on the liners wear away. These marks allow oil to be trapped and lube the rings.

Dan- 12 December 2012 08:02 PM

ah okay, learn something new!

i would have said driving it from cold will much more damage as when say keep off boost, its not that easy i have to join an A1 3 turns from my road so i cant exactly poodly on keeping below 3k revs Ahaha

bioforger 12 December 2012 08:06 PM

Heated garage :smug:

I let my STi (Spec D) tick over for about 5 mins, then drive it under 3k rpm for another 10 mins.

Then......she gets it.

JDM_333 12 December 2012 08:29 PM

Same as, I let it tick over for 10mins until the screen is cleared then drive it no higher than 2.5k rpm until shes hot! :thumb:

There's a lot of owners with deaf/patient neighbours...

Dan- 12 December 2012 08:43 PM

:P 6 am go and start the car for 10 mins ! can't wait tilll i get my nur spec R fitted then there may be some issues, dout it tho :)

JDM_333 12 December 2012 08:45 PM

:lol1:

Its the Blitz Nur Spec R alarm clock!

You will be heard for miles around when you fit that, no doubt about it - especially when its cold, animals will flee from you into the next county and when you leave your neighbours will chase you with pitch forks and flaming torches!

Mines not louder than anything else at idle speed

Jacko4130 12 December 2012 08:50 PM

What i do is leave my noisy car in its garage and take the van with a heated screen to work.

Dan- 12 December 2012 08:51 PM

Haha yeah the t**ts going to work now i bet

6AM every1 should be awake by then :D haha I'm really trying to hear a blitz in person! i cant understand quite how loud in vids!

Mike GT 12 December 2012 08:54 PM

I cope with the outside easy enough, with a sheet of cardboard under the wipers.........its the bloody inside that irritates the sh*t out of me and takes an age or two to clear...peering through a hole the size of periscope on the windscreen is no fun at 6am :D nor is it fun when the doors are frozen up and you cant even get in haha

Kwik 12 December 2012 08:56 PM

My car on tick over is quite quiet but its the low grumble you can't tell whether its enough to wake people. I leave at 6, so tend to leave without ticking over at very very low revs.
The window seems to *steam up easily, to the point I have to lean my head out of the side window to watch where I'm going. Then I sit at the end of the next road at tickover, I don't care if I wake the next street.
*I say steam but the microfibre demister pad doesn't touch it.

PMSL, do you try your windows and they don't even budge?

Beware cabin noise.

Mike GT 12 December 2012 09:08 PM

Yup, exactly the same, but cold water across the seal helps that out lol...

Whats more embarrasing is pulling into petrol station and not able to open the fuel door cos thats bloody frozen too :lol1:

Ah god, brings back memorys of my old 206 180! red light on! 0 miles in tank go to fill up and my key wont turn in the petrol cap :( i was buggered! was -8 outside aswell was in no rush to turn :@

RobsyUK 12 December 2012 09:26 PM

Turn engine on. Put blowers on screen, full blast and press the button to recycle the air in the cabin rather then suck from outside.. Leave 4mins while I have a smoke.

If I'm late I'll do a squirt of deicer - if your worried about deicer then what does salt do to your cars
If I'm not late I happily scrape..

Winds me up seeing people throw water ove their screen. Our nob jockey neighbour parks on a bend and pours his water on the car that then ices up the bend.

WD40 before or during being frozen worked wonders for this. I remember a guy helping a lady out with her frozen flap ;). As soon as he did hers there were several others all wanting help.

Scooby B 12 December 2012 09:31 PM

Does nobody used the good old de-icer these days?

Dan- 12 December 2012 09:34 PM

in the end thats what i did spray WD40 in the lock :) i only dont use de-icer as ive never used it, well actually thats a lie! i used it when i found it in my mates car to start a bbq that woudnlt light haha!

At certain speeds it loses the sound a car makes and becomes more like a b(l)oomin helicopter with the buffetting sound. :)

Awesome exhaust though, wouldn't change it!
