sorry forgot to say that yes I have looked at the light angles off my hid lights on a dark unlit country road and in my own personal opinion the lights were excellent when adjusted from within the car,and at the risk of repeating myself ?! obviously the mot tester thought the same during the last mot :-) have also yet to get my first flash off lights from a fellow motorist advising me that my lights were blinding them !! Have YOU looked at the lights APPROACHING you from loads of different angles, and distances? If not, YOU cannot comment on their dazzle, or otherwise;) |
" Duck the question " ??!!
again taken from above " I have looked at the light angles off my hid lights on a dark unlit country road and in my own personal opinion the lights were excellent " yes got out the car and looked at them from various angles / distances , set the in car headlight adjuster this way as well. at the end off the day we are not going to agrea are we ??!! but again appreciatte your input on the subject. |

okay one thing thou you say the police will be pulling cars over with HID lighting, okay as far as I am aware virtually every car manufacturer offers HID lighting and yes that even includes vauxhall with there little corsa !!! which makes HID lights very, very commonly seen on todays roads. properly set up and using a sensible set off k -rating bulbs ie. 6k or under which again in my view is very acceptable are you honestly saying the police will be stopping cars fitted with such just to check if they are factory fitted /using projector type lenses or not ??!!
slightly different I know but its like saying the police / gov depts will be targeting subarus / evos /vxr /st etc in the chance they are running full decats !! they know it happens but as far as I am aware its not something thats heavily policed. OEM Xenons HID`s. http://www.mazda626.net/uploads/img-...ine-step-6.jpg Non OEM HID`s. http://www.mazda626.net/uploads/img-...housing_01.jpg Now you can see how they willl know, and how they will fail. Tbh if you fit the OEM lights for HID`s then you`ll have no issue. The only issue is fitting HID`s to a Halogen lamp, as the reflector isn`t set up to reflect the light properly. |
Perhaps it OUGHT to be pointed out that the top picture is for LHD cars, ie: cars running on the RIGHT-hand side of the road.
:D |
is the bad picture H4 HID kit, as when I had my WRX MY03 with hid kit it wasn't perfect but was nowhere near that bad, also presume the top one is projectors as the cutoff is spot on, apart from wrong side as stated above. I think HID kits have a bad name due to being put in unsuitable applications, single filament bulbs with either projectors or plain front lenses are very good with aftermarket kit, not perfect but since having my jdm sti with reflector based HID factory lights the cut off is a little cleaner with these but I never had any issues with blinding other drivers with my wrx. Best bet is to fit jdm lights or retro fit projectors in your own for the best HID experience. Wish I had the balls to fit projectors in mine.

The top one will amlost ceratinly be H4 HID on main beam.

and in my own personal opinion the lights were excellent when adjusted from within the car |

No matter what you do you will never get the best out of hids unless you can get a parabolic lens type lamp, which focuses the light properly. If in doubt this is what a HID should be behind (non Subaru). http://www.taradplaza.com/thaihidret...0818230507.JPG If it isn`t then chances are you`ll have problems. I know the bugeyes on have them as OEM on some models, and these are the ones to go for, as they will be no problem come MOT despite the no washers/auto levellers, as if not fitted they can`t be tested. But the all important beam patterns will be crisp. |

Jimbob, that's why I did my projector retrofit, see here:https://www.scoobynet.com/technical-...mpler-way.html

Lucky for me my Impreza and Legacy both have OEM hid lights fitted as standard... Jdm's don't have washers though

The clear facelift lights will fit, it's just the shut lines that will be wrong....
