Oh yes, a very nice lady indeed. Just unfortunate about her brother... :D
Just had the cast cut off for the doc to take a look and its time to go home :) New cast for 4-6 weeks then a bit of physio. The infection is calming and I'd torn one of the three ligaments that the tricep controls, so they've repaired that too...happy days :thumb:
Thanks to Jarvis and everyone for the kind replies, good to read when your stuck in hospital :)

I'll pop in next week fella so keep the kettle warm.

"Taylor" 09 December 2011 10:37 PM

Unfortunatly fella's like i said, it didn't end well:

http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n...t/IMAG0237.jpg

I came home from work thursday and decided to go for a little drive down the coast road as it had finally stopped raining. Unfortunatly as i rounded a slight left kink in the road after going over a crest in the road, the back of the car stepped out and even though i counter steered and kept my foot in, the road was too narrow and the n/s/f tyre contacted the grass bank and took me up and over. I slid on my side for a short while then gently rolled onto my roof and slid for what seemed like ages! When the car came to a stop luckily i remained calm and gently undid my belt as to not drop on my head, as i was suspended by it, and had the sense to knock off the ignition before getting out.
I didn't have any injuries so i thought until my elbow started crunching while climbing out. 2 cars weren't too far away and stopped to help. Between them they patched my arm up and called the police/ambulance. I was bemused as to how it had happened as gods honest truth i wasn't tanking along. Anyways, they took me to hospital, x-rayed my arm and said it was full of debris and glass, hence the crunching although i hadn't broken anything. After quite a few injections and 40 minutes scrubbing my arm, they patched me up and told me to return Monday. However it got infected by saturday and i needed an op to cut it open and clean it properly. Luckily they did, as they found i'd cut through a ligament, which they then repaired. So 5 days and 4 nights in hospital on IV antibiotics for me...
Anyways i'm just thankful that it didn't go over the banking down to the river as its a long way down and the outcome may have been a little different.

Myself and The Moose returned to the site the day after for a little investigation of our own, which included testing grip level, walking the scene and a few passes in his Shogun. The only conclusion that we can draw was that due to the heavy rain earlier that day and the mountain being saturated, water was running across the road and caused me to aquaplane (Its a known problem along this road). The front tyres have excellent tread depth but the rears were down to 1.6 rising to 2mm and 1.8 rising to 2mm. So it seems the front tyres were able to cope with the water but the rears weren't....

And for the gore fans, one of the infected hole in my elbow...

**** the bed dude :( you were very lucky it wasn't any worse !! Glad you're ok, the car is replaceable! Mad it was a slow speed really!! Speedy recovery buddy :)

Silver Scooby Sport 09 December 2011 11:57 PM

You don't want a new thread there Taylor, I've only looked at the pics on my phone but the car damage looks quite mad really, you can tell its low speed I think as its not really dented just scratched were its slid along, as I have said the cars not important but you are and as long as your going to be fit and well that's all that matters pal. Take it easy there and if there is anything I can do for you then you know how to get hold of me.

Jimbob 10 December 2011 01:41 AM
