In some countries they are banned etc so its just to be standard. Just like the standard map that comes with the car. :)

Yes, but IF they gave those gains, manufacturers WOULD fit from standard.

They don't: ergo, the gains aren't true.

But its a £300 dv vs a £25 one. So its for them to save I suppose. Same as fitting extra gauges like boost. But each to their own. There was a video of someone testing the normal dv against an after market re circulating one and a vta.

Use the oem one as a baseline. There are dv that are better and worse just like almost everything.

ditchmyster 30 November 2011 05:32 PM

Lol at the haters, i'll have a turbosmart one for sale in a couple of weeks for £200 pm me if interested.

:)

Not disagreeing Nossy. The OE one should be OK up to 500bhp though.

Out of interest, mine runs a Forge recirculating type on my FMIC 2.5 litre conversion.

the turbosmart recirculating one is £260, the dual type which can be either VTA or recirc with the vta blanked £272, from eclipseracing or motorsport developments.

I wasn't having a go at you either :thumb:.

You know your stuff seen you participate in quite a few different topics. :)

ditchmyster 30 November 2011 07:43 PM

I'm not sure which one is on my car as it came with the car and i have never messed with it,but it is a turbosmart, cars been mapped with it on and i kind of like it,even though it's not something i would go out and buy, and along with the anti lag it's a hoot to drive around making people jump, the older one out of fear and shock and the younger ones for joy :lol1: i guess i'm a chav at heart.

Someone said they were £300 earlier in the thread so i figured £200 was a good price but i'm open to offers :D

Yes, great idea! :rolleyes::cuckoo::cuckoo::cuckoo:

EVERYONE should fit something that can damage the running and eventually the engine, because THIS guy likes them.
I give up:rolleyes:

I said that lol because thats what my one approximately cost lol. But just had a look and it seems they have gone down in price.

harvey 30 November 2011 08:54 PM

Nossy : I'm using a turbosmart one and it seems good. Its about £300 but its worth it.
Whether it is £200 or £300 can you tell me what makes it worth it???

Can't really say apart from quality. Yes I know its expensive but I didn't really fork out for it. The original dv looked like it had seen better days and on the mapping session was holding the engine back. So a baylies dv was put on and that was crap lol.

trevsjwood 30 November 2011 09:39 PM

Nossy, does it recirculate or vta?

Or why not lean out of the window and shout, "Hey! Everyone! Look at me! PSSSSSHT", every time you change gear.

It will have the same effect: 14 year old girls will cream thmselves, Joe Public will see you for what you are;)

Even better, here's one made just for you:

The standard was recirculating. The Turbosmart one was a vta. It can be adjusted.

ditchmyster 30 November 2011 11:13 PM

It makes me smile, so £200, £300, £500, no different to any other mod on a scoob, they all have the potential to damage and shorten the life of the engine, at the end of the day it's the op's money and he can spend it how he likes, and if it makes him smile when he hears it then it's worth what ever he is willing to pay.

Quantify worth.......What is any mod worth? I could buy something from china for £100 and sell it on here for £400 is it worth £100 or £400 :wonder:

:)

sonicvr6 30 November 2011 11:21 PM

i still want to know how mines going to trash my engine ? when the hole idea is to save the turbo from stalling there there to save you money. Most turbo charged cars if not all have them from the factory but they dont put vta 's on the main reason for this is noise nothing more nothing less but like every mod the 1st rule is the car has to be mapped for it

sonicvr6 30 November 2011 11:22 PM

it's all about how the car is set up maf map
